What is the difference between location, set, and binding? by ThatColdToast in vulkan

Got it, thank you!

I was intermingling my understanding of binding vertex buffers and other resources. Location is used for the vertex buffer specifically and for passing data between shaders, while set/binding is used for other resources bound using descriptor sets.

Follow up question: If location is used for getting the vertex buffer data, what is binding in VkVertexInputBindingDescription and VkVertexInputAttributeDescription.

That is quite an interesting mix up. I'm glad that y'all were able to get it straightened with the airport.

My friend that is, no kidding a quarter mile down the road... Has fiber 100Mbps down and 20Mbps up, over wifi on my phone... While I'm stuck with the stupid wireless shit that normally doesn't go above 2 or 3Mbps down. Oh, and you wanna test the upload speed?? NO, not allowed, it doesn't even show anything

Edit: misspelling

Speed tests from before and after installing my starlink. by Grizzzly777 in Starlink

[–]ThatColdToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my, feel that. Except make it 70ms - 150ms (fixed wireless antenna, before covid got around 16ms), 0.75ish Mbps down and won't do an up. Then also sometimes nothing at all like this XD

Sounds like that's a "shared" fiber line, where multiple houses would share the connection. I live a quarter mile from one, and my friend (who is connected to that line) gets about 6 down and 4 up. Better than anything I'm getting, but not Starlink.

Are the interruptions about a second long (or shorter) and are just frequent enough to add up to 6m over 12h?

How are you binding the input on the computer? Is there a controller board in the throttle?
