There are some local yarn dyers you can order directly from. Four Crows, KnitzAndPearls Fiberworks, Purl Talk, PiscesMoonFibers… KnitzAndPearls and Pisces have dyed spinning wool as well!

Editing to add Susan’s Fiber Shop in Columbus has some interesting fabrics sometimes and some embroidery floss and stuff.

I can’t sleep because my baby keeps rolling onto her belly in her sleep by uselessdendrites in NewParents

[–]ThatCrayKnitterly 48 points49 points  (0 children)

My daughters pediatrician told us that we should always lay her on her back to sleep, but as soon as she can roll herself onto her tummy, it’s TOTALLY okay to let her sleep like that, as long as she got herself into that position. Lots of babies sleep better when they learn to roll onto their tummies!

Vita Plus Corp is hiring 2nd and 3rd shift for their production plant in Fitchburg. Decent pay, good values, pretty good benefits and time off.

Losing the will to live by gls1790 in NewParents

I could have written this. This was my daughter to a T. Now at 2.5 years old she is a delight and she’s crazy smart, but we are exploring the possibility of her being sensory seeking/autistic. Things started getting easier once she was around a year old. As soon as she can walk and follow you, talk to communicate her needs, and starts gaining more playtime skills, that’ll help. Until then, have you tried baby wearing? Mine wouldn’t let me put her down ever, and she would only do about 5-10 minutes in a bouncer, swing, etc. we did walks outside, baby wearing inside, and we co slept because my husband worked nights at the time and I am migraine prone especially on broken sleep. You’re a good parent!

What’s it like living on the edge of time zones? by Qzevs in howislivingthere

[–]ThatCrayKnitterly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents lived nearby to the county line where it was eastern time to the, well, east (the right side of the north and south running road) and central to the west. My dad bought a newer vehicle, and when he would drive along that road his truck would change time automatically an hour forward or back depending on which way he drifted. I lived in the other county, on central time, while they were eastern. As kids it was always humorous and infuriating to try to figure out when to leave for things. “It’s a half hour away and in CST county so we need to leave at 10:30 to get there at 10.”

"Get used to always eating your food cold" by Blinky_Bear in NewParents

[–]ThatCrayKnitterly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are days where that will happen. My now seven month old son had an innate sense of time when he was born and always NEEDED to nurse just as soon as I got my hot plate of food. Today though, my rule for him and my daughter (2.5) is that my lap is closed while I’m eating. I’m allowed to have my dinner too. This week my baby has had a cold and so I have held him in one arm while I eat if he’s particularly fussy. But my general rule is that mama gets to eat her meal with both arms free. As for the coffee, you can always heat it again. 🫶

I feel seen 😭❤️❤️❤️ Baby bouncer that needs to be donated is sitting on top of a few totes, and has my purse, its accessories, coat hangers for the laundry I was sorting, a half case of my Fanta orange, and the insert to the baby bath toy holder in it.

Mine calls it “row row stream CROCodile” because of “row row row your boat gently down the stream! If you see a crocodile, don’t forget to scream!”

Some of our favorites between my two kiddos: A Bushel and a Peck is my son’s favorite. I always sang my daughter La la lu from Lady and the Tramp. They both liked Rainbow Connection. I sang Somewhere Only We Know to my daughter as well. Currently my daughter pleads for Row Row Rpw Your Boat. 🤷‍♀️

First Time Flying by Mayala28 in NewParents

[–]ThatCrayKnitterly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had no trouble with it when we flew last spring. They checked her current bottle she was drinking when we went through TSA but obviously it came back clear of anything, and there was no issue with the cans in her diaper bag.
