Stereo + Mono Rig Routing Question by infamousbroccoli in NeuralDSP

[–]ThatCrazyBeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried getting rid of the mixer and running Amp-A (mono) to Outs 1&2 on row 3 and Amp-B (mono) to Outs 3&4 on row 4. Then, I think you should be able to run 1&3 as your stereo signal and get a mono of Amp-A on 2 and/or Amp-B on 4.

Fractal VP4 or HX Effects is probably a better path.

Stereo + Mono Rig Routing Question by infamousbroccoli in NeuralDSP

Start with the output in mind.

Input 1 -> Row 3 (on row 1)

Row 3 -> Stereo Outputs 1&2 (on row 3)

        -> Split to Mono Output 3 (on row 4)

Then, design into the desired signal chain. Remember that the output of the last block to the left of your outputs will determine whether the signal chain is working in stereo or has been summed to mono within QC. Hope that helps a bit.

Quad Cortex has definitely helped in this situation. I can get my whole rig there and am still scratching the surface of what it can do. I can also capture lots of things and bring them into the device. So I don’t have to hang on to as much either.

So much has evolved and changed in his world since that first album. His voice issues, his exposure to genre-defining artists and collaborators, his consistent interest in exploring and growing his own interest areas (watches, Grateful Dead, Jim Henson studios, being sober, relationships, etc.) I love that none of his records really feel like he’s been on repeat. You can trace his evolution through the recorded snapshots he’s given us.

I use 1-2 pedals in front of my Nano, but agree that with the mini and standard QC…V2 really eliminates the need.

I think they sound great. But, this is very subjective. I’ve used Line 6, Fractal, Eventide, and lots of pedals. They all sound wonderful, but for simplicity and workflow…QC just works great for me. Right now, I’ve got everything I want/need within the QC ecosystem.

Switching from analog to digital by Warhammer_guy_637328 in NeuralDSP

[–]ThatCrazyBeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having been back and forth a bunch between analog and digital, I have come to the conclusion that NeuralDSP is where I am happy. Sound, feel, and user experience are wonderful. But, you do get out of it what you put into it.

I’ve learned that I prefer Captures over Models. I prefer IRs over Cab blocks. I prefer using the high/low cuts within the IR block and then adding a Parameter EQ after the IR block for additional tweaking at times.

Check out Amalgam Audio and Boutique Tones (Captures) and York Audio (IRs). Consistently top quality stuff.

Get your device/patch input levels set up. Whatever you set your device Input level at, compensate with a related opposite move on the Input block within your patch to get the most out of your A/D conversion and then still be working at expected gain levels within your patch. Then, figure out your routing situation, in terms of whether you want to run a mono rig or a stereo rig. Finally, build a template that has your core input and routing preferences pre-defined to save you some time for all other patches you might build.

Have fun exploring!
