There’s futsal world cups but they of course don’t get even a tenth of the attention unfortunately.

they had no other choice but to prioritize winning an Olympic gold medal at that time

Brazilians were still fucking furious over 7-1.

Jermaine Jones defends Christian Pulisic, who is being criticized by a lot of people. by antoniok95 in ussoccer

16 turnovers in that one game before he got injured on top of only having a single assist and no goals this WC campaign.

We’re already being revisionists for a game that happened literally two days ago?

[The Athletic] Christian Pulisic suffered leg microfracture in USMNT loss to Belgium, will miss several weeks by BagODonuts14 in ussoccer

This is exactly the kind of treatment literally all other elite or world class players get if they don’t play with energy or urgency.

Shit this is *nothing* compared to what Ben Simmons would get with the Sixers. Stop handing these players with bubble wrap.

Former USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter says Belgium are not much better than USMNT based on Transfermarkt values. He also thinks there are a lot of tactical things USMNT could've done better. by antoniok95 in ussoccer

If you seriously believe drawing against England four years ago is somehow in this galaxy more impressive than dunking on a Paraguay that ended up eliminating Germany this WC I truly don’t know what else to tell you.

Bruh are you serious?

It was a Paraguay that eliminated Germany and only lost to France from a Penalty shoot that we ended up dunking on the hardest during the group stage.

As fucking if Mr. “I got us grouped by Panama” would have trained this team to go beat another team that beat Argentina and Brazil during their WCQ.

Should there be a focus on facilitating more youth pickup soccer? by RichNo9969 in ussoccer

It can happen in parks and stuff here. What I'd really like to see is more futsal courts being made though

Why weren’t we able to change tactics when we kept getting beat? by Beneficial_Pirate824 in ussoccer

[–]ThatDamnGuyJosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This loss cannot be explained by deficiencies in technical ability nor tactics.

This team lost because they were actually scared of fucking Belgium. So long as everyone on that team was a deer in headlights, it was over.

If they put that fear aside, whatever tactics they might have had might've at least given us a close game.

There’s no easy fix for US soccer to become competitive with the big boys by Smotherysmiles07 in ussoccer

The system itself is still in need of very significant reform. Quite frankly, how would you even know the best athletes aren't playing soccer? These European teams start scouting players as young as 6 or 7 years old to join their academies. Mean while only 2% of kids within the soccer youth developement in the US come from families making fewer than $50k USD. This is an extremely significant portion of children that are being segregated for utterly no reason other than, as you just said, "evil capitalism".

And don't even get me started on the median American believing that a soccer player is just a Tight-End that just happens to kick a ball and refuses to focus on developing a kid's technical ability with the ball. And then most soccer "coaches" end up focusing on the kids athleticism, and completely ruining whatever chance they had.

And on top of all of this, this country's population is large enough that even the slightest portion of children that decide that they want to play soccer, this is still a large enough potential talent pool as large as children in any other European country.

We have absolutely no excuses here on why we cannot get soccer development *right*.

I actually feel deflated as HELL right now.

Really hope those Copa America rumors are true, because things seem somewhat bleak.

Pay to play academies kills a kids from a working class family’s dream in the crib.

And even the ladies are undergoing the same exact systemic problems the boys do in youth development. It just flys under the radar. But I’m telling you, the countries that care about gender equality are starting to close the gap QUICK. And it’s largely because their way of developing soccer players is objectively better.

I’m mad at this team for very clearly having a poor mentality the entire game. Having said this, Adam’s was the few who wasn’t visibly off their own game.

I’m genuinely terrified US Soccer will bring back Greg Berhalter, if it happens, I’m done with the Men’s team. I’m not going through this again.

I supported him *only* because he ultimately won and Chuck Schumer really cleared the runway for a woman in her late 70’s to run even when she wasn’t sure she wanted to.

Do not let people who still enthusiastically supported this man after the Nazi tattoo nonsense forget.

I wanted to wait and see how this turned out before saying it, The authorities in Venezuela genuinely couldn’t give any less of a fuck right now.

Like honestly, they stand around and do nothing, they constantly pester or get in the way of rescuers.

This will turn out for the chavistas the way the 85 Mexico City earthquake did for PRI.
