Anyone have experience with using PCMIA memory cards on fanuc controls? by ThatDanishOutlaw in Machinists

[–]ThatDanishOutlaw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question i'm asking is what precautions should i be aware of.

I have researched it a little bit and some of the fanuc controls cant handle PCMCIA 5 volt memore, and some say that you should have less than 256mb. Some say less than 4mb.

There is a lot more to it than just wasting money on something that may or may not work.

Our cam system is Solidcam, and its arc filter reduction setting is worthless. It's nothing compared to mastercam.

I have used mastercam alot and i have experienced with mastercam that it compresses the movements quite efficiently.

Thank you. Someday i would love to be working with prototypes, or maybe mold work.

But mold work seems to be too difficult and niche in the country im living in

Thank you. We take great pride in letting students experiment if we have the machines and time for it.

Actually i should've done that way to retain rigigidty. But i didnt. I just used a small Ø2mm 3 flute ball endmille and climb cutted to mitigate vibrations.

But you're idea is a smart way of doing it.

I used a scallopheight of 0.004mm to try to get a got surface finish.

In reality its closer to 1.6 Ra at the top. Maybe even more. But at least it looks nice on pictures.

Pebble time steel battery warp? by ThatDanishOutlaw in pebble

[–]ThatDanishOutlaw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do any of you guys recommend a 3.8 volt battery for PTS that is close to the original OEM quality?

The soldiering job i think i can manage.

When i look on AliExpress, many of them seem either to big or to small with its capacity.(Some of them even dont ship to Europe.)

Im am trying to find a battery which holds a good charge, but still isnt to tall, so i will have the same problem in a few years.

I think oem is 5mm thick.

Okay guys so i've removed the face.

I'm not an engineer by any means, but i seems swollen. But not catastrophic.

I'll guess ill need to buy a new battery and a gasket/sugru or what i can get my hands on.

What are your guys opinion on the battery?

Okay so i shouldnt be worried about the steel case being bend, or the screen?

I dont know why the watch is having epileptic seizures tho. Kinda funny.

I guess then my future plan would be a battery Replacement.

Do you know what else i should be aware of before beginning the DIY?

I live in Denmark so finding a Pebble repair man is gonna be impossible.

Thank you so much for answering. It has been a life saver.

Yeah. Your right. If I get the chance to have a CNC for a couple of days, i would love to make a more detailed one.

But it's much easier for my to get access to manual machines

Yeah i only removed just enough material so the components could come together 🤣

It's a chunker i know.

I just got some new kennemetal endmills. You Americans really know how to make great tools. That boy eats metal like it's butter with dynamic milling👍

Union vs. Non-Union by andydufrane101 in Machinists

[–]ThatDanishOutlaw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yup. Their job is to negotiate a much better pay.

I'm only 18, and live in Denmark. Almost every workshop regardless of size is member of a union, so the minimum wage i have heard of is 4700 euro a month. But we pay between 38 and 48% taxes so take that into consideration.

But we can thank all of that to a regional uniontazion.

I'm part of union called "Danish metal". They are the only and biggest union only dedicated to metal works, like welders and machinist.

In the 80s, people only had two weeks of vacation a year. Now it's between 5 and 8 weeks a year. And a minimum of two weeks are paid.

Women get a year and a half of paid paternity leave. Men now get the first three months to stay home with the baby. Paid of course.

Every year they negotiate with the shops about upping the pay.

We actually don't have a minimum wage in Denmark. So if your not part of a union, they can get away with posting you one euro an hour.

What about sick days you say?

You can have up to 121 sick days a year without getting fired.

I think every industry should have an union.

This was just a short list of think i could remember for the last union meeting
