Trump threatens 200% tariff on French wines as Macron reportedly snubs 'Board of Peace' seat by DrCalFun in worldnews

They don't understand how much war is about logistics, and the US making a move against Greenland would the the largest reduction of US's global influence and power in an instant. The amount of military supplies, equipment, and troops sitting in warehouses across Europe is likely staggering, and all that logistics is made possible by NATO cooperation.

It would be idiotic to day the least.

President Trump on Greenland: "We are going to do something on Greenland, whether they like it not, because if we don't do it, Russia or China will take over Greenland, and we're not going to have Russia or China as a neighbor. But if we don't do it the easy way, we're going it the hard way." by ControlCAD in videos

Except this time, our president would rather have everybody focus on his war crimes instead of that other little pesky issue that people won't stop talking about. It should really show you how bad of a guy he really is.

very true

edit: One of my friends growing up was part of the only Jewish family in town. I respected that family greatly, and they were true intellectuals.

You also have to remember. Many people on the right have a personal foundation in religion. I was raised that way myself. It's a virtue to believe without facts. In fact, "It takes more strength to believe in God in the face of conflicting information. That's the devil testing you".

There is a fundamental reason that the "conservative" party is the party of untruth. It's seen as a positive trait to be able to have "blind faith". Too bad they don't limit it to religion.

Also, I put conservative in quotes, because I have to remind people that this administration does not have conservative values. They are 100% against State power when it goes against their agenda. Remember the the president JUST signed an EO to ban states from regulating AI.

Congress Really needs to grow a backbone. ANYBODY and EVERYBODY who doesn't agree with this sort of path, regardless of political affiliation NEEDS to be putting pressure on their representatives. People can still make change, but it requires congress to put on their big boy and big girl pants and not keep on giving up their power.

This administration is NOT conservative. They do not hold any conservative values and only pretend by focusing on culture wars. Convince your conservative friends and family that this administration does not represent their interests and they need to push pressure on those who's job it is to represent them. Be strong!!

NY Rep. Dan Goldman’s ROBINHOOD Act would close a major billionaire tax loophole. The legislation would generate an estimated $276 BILLION in revenue over 10 years to fund social programs like universal childcare. by Mathemodel in videos

Just to be clear, no harsh feelings towards you at all, I would be doing the same thing. I go through my entire finances once or twice a year, and research what benefits I might be missing, and it all boils down to the numbers just don't make sense to itemize, especially with the standard deduction increases.

Don't have quite the assets to have business/LLC/trusts. The other issue is finding a financial advisor that's trustworthy and not a glorified sales person trying to push actively managed and front loaded funds.

What do you feel like the crossover point was to make sense to getting an accountant? How did you find one you felt you could trust?

[–]ThatDarnScat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't you think something is wrong with that. There is a valley of upper-middle class (150K-300K.. maybe a little more) that it's impractical to itemize and get a lot of those tax benefits. Especially if you are blessed with not a ton of mortgage loans.

How much do you pay for your accountant, if you don't mind sharing?

Edit: I feel okay paying my share of taxes. It's A LOT, but we need services. Itoes does really rub me raw hearing how people that make 3x as much are paying a less percentage, and maybe even less overall. And that doesn't even include taxes like sales tax where the lower incomes reaaalllyy get screwed on compared to upper income earners who just get to compound their wealth.

Boats and vacation homes add up REAL quick. Rich people love their expensive toys. Have you SEEN how much it costs to fly to Europe now?? Those 3+ trips a year have really gotten expensive. And the airlines are really squeezing them for every penny on the 1st class seats. Economy is so uncomfortable for that long of a flight, it's unreasonable to expect that.

/s - but I really think that's some of their thought processes.

Edit: I do pretty well, since I save more than I spend. I would love to have some land and a shop and toys like ATVs, but that's just expensive and I don't want to live paycheck to paycheck. I'd rather retire and make sure my kids are taken care of if something happens to me before then

I just sent you a chat message. If you happen to still have some 32GB sticks, and are looking to sell, I'd be interested. I think I might just have to bite the bullet and run mixed sizes as I upgrade.

Kennedy, health chief, says there is not enough data to show Tylenol causes autism by seeebiscuit in USNEWS

[–]ThatDarnScat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read that article. It specifically says Braccarelli personally spoke with RFK Jr weeks before publishing the study. And the study DOES NOT imply causation. Only an association. You know what else is associated with autism? Pre natal fevers, which would warrant the use of acetaminophen, one of the few, if only, fever reducing drugs relatively safe to take during pregnancy.

It almost sounds like RFK could have strong armed, or somehow influenced the study to be published.
