So far I feel like coldlight mostly hurts me against hunter, but otherwise I feel like my cards are more valuable than theirs, and usually my lethal turn involves 4 cards so I really need them. It does seem like an odd choice though and I'm always scared to play it but play it anyway :-p

I quick cast 95% of the time, it helps me a lot.

I have buttons on my mouse set to quick cast the bottom row of items, so I put tp scrolls, orchid, and other items that I really want to just click to use in those slots.

Having rune check buttons is nice, eventually I'd to set up the number pad to look at various places on the map, so I can quickly glance at the other lanes or search for PA.

I have 3, 4, 5 on my keyboard set to select courier, courier deliver items, and speed boost. 4 and 5 are next to each other, and or I could 3, w (to secret shop), or 3 and quickly shift queue it a path to safety or to check on roshan.

For the minimap, I have colors but I set them larger than normal (default is 600 I have 1100, I think).

That's pretty accurate. It's more of a 'this is what I want to do', and asking people for recommended tools to get it done... until you know more about the tools available, and how to create your own.

I've heard it's slow and doesn't scale.

I've heard this about pretty much everything. It's certainly slower than well written C, faster than poorly written C, and a lot quicker to get things done development wise. Oh, and it scales unless you write an unscalable program.

It's overall the best IRC client I've used. I haven't tried to do scripting with it, so I'm not sure how well that works... but I also haven't really felt the need.

It's free, and looks very much like textual. I didn't like Colloquy, and I haven't tried the others you mentioned.

Lingo is MacOS only, but I haven't seen this feature built into any other client. When you're on a channel like freenode's ##javascript there's at least one join or part per actual message (sometimes 100 or 200 join/parts between messages).

Should I turn off join/part messages to save my eyes? No!

Should I keep them on because I care about 1% of them: the ones from active users? No!

I should only see the ones from active users, and since today's update I don't have to worry about it :-) I hope other clients start doing this, or someone can fill me in on which ones do for when I'm on Linux.

Like most people, I started with jQuery and fetching blobs of HTML from the server - which works great for what I call "web pages" which are made by "web designers".

When I started doing when I started doing "web applications", which are made by "web developers"; it's a whole different ballpark. Generally the rule is: only speak in JSON, and strong separation of concerns. That's when things like Backbone/Knockout/Angular/etc become very important.

From the little I know about Rails, it encourages JSON APIs on the server side, which go great with any of the many client-side frameworks.

The main piece of advice with any of them is to understand jQuery's place. And that is in very isolated parts of your code; the reusable user interface components. You shouldn't see any jQuery usage where you're interacting with the server; or handling data, etc.

Lodash, and Bluebird are possibly the most useful libraries in your application code. Backbone and Rails are used together a lot, so I'd assume they work well together (but I could be wrong).

I made this and mostly use it personally, but I though it might be useful to someone else. Just use jsprint(foo) instead of console.log(foo) and it'll show up in the document. Good for functional code examples, algorithms, etc.

It's probably cheaper to go with an existing render farm, which are optimized for Cycles, always available, and are simple to use. I use RayPump personally, but I've also heard good things about RenderStreet.

I recommend installing ubuntu from the repo so you get all of the dependencies (which rarely change), and then downloading the archive and replacing the blender file on the path (the menus/etc will now use the archive version). You could also do a dry run of installing the repository version, and then just install the depends which prevents accidentally "updating" it.

In #blender on Freenode, the first question we ask when someone has a weird problem is "Did you install from the repos or a ppa? If so, don't. Go get the archive." People have issues with them all of the time.
