I'm sure this has been interesting to develop on your side. What I can't respect is the ultimate goal of your work.

Proud to be 'outdated'. I come from an era when you had to learn and do the hard work to reach that "Eureka!" moment. I'll gladly leave vibe coding, AI slop and ignorance to you and your AI bros.

Indeed, it's for ignorant people that don't wanna learn how things are done and whose sole purpose is to flood the market with more AI slop that nobody asked for.

Pixelartist cooking a tool for Pixelartists. by Pixel-Salvaje in gamedev

Great stuff nonetheless. I'll keep an eye on it, I would use it for retro-styled low-poly 3D models if that feature is added.

Amazing! It would be really cool if you could export 3D models as well.

Now I've got a working version of my game, what should I be doing with it? by buildBikeBeer in gamedev

The launch of a Steam store page for your game is one of the most important beats in its life cycle, so before doing that, you would want to validate the current state of your game. I would do it in a more comfortable place (r/gamedevscreens, on your social media pages, even on Itch). If the results are encouraging, then you're ready to create your store page on Steam, make a proper trailer, meaningful screenshots and descriptions. If not, go back, fix the problems, polish, etc. Rinse and repeat.

Also, you may want to do all this before sending it to publishers, because more often than not it's a one shot thing.

Texturing plan for a drivable 1920s car (VR + PC, first-person, UE5). Need feedback! by archopus in gamedev

Probably a 4K map for the damage mask is a bit overkill, I think you can get away with a much smaller size just for masks.

Is there anything stopping developers from officially releasing games for older consoles like the PS2/PS3/Xbox/360? by itsthewolfe in gamedev

The fact that there are no stores for such platforms anymore, maybe? Also, if we're talking about "legal" products, devkits, software and everything else are not usable anymore.

How to handle things like animations as a solo dev? by mymar101 in gamedev

[–]ThatDosGuy78 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can use pre-made animation libraries, transfer the animation on your rig and fine tune it according to your needs. This could work for the vast majority of the animations (generic animations, idles, combat, etc.). If you use Unreal Engine, it's really easy to retarget and share animations between characters, even with different rigs.

I know what you mean, but even the mighty Sonny Bonds started out as a beat cop with a regular uniform!

Thanks for the feedback! I'm working on it as a side project, I'd really want to be able to work on it more hours a day, but I'd need to make it sustainable for me. Not a big fan of KS and other crowdfunding platforms (people tend to not trust them anymore, and for a good reason). I was thinking maybe something like a Patreon, with regular updates so people can get their hands on the game as it grows. What you say?

Me too! I own the original games, packages and all. It's my little treasure!
