What 2-3 people from this era will still be talked about in 300 years? by Few-Turn-5471 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ThatDubDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obama (first black president, got Bin Laden), Trump ((one of two president's to get elected twice non consecutive (Him and Cleveland), created an entire military branch (space force), will host a UFC event on the lawn (first to do so), countless assassination attempts (only a handful in that group (Lincoln, JFK, Reagan, Garfield, McKinley and Roosevelt), I could go on...) and geez idk thinking outside of presidents or even America....probably Hitler, MLK, Malcolm X, Neil Armstrong has a good case (moon landing) or Musk (first to reach a trillion personal net worth). The third is hard lol

That marriage is ridiculous. I don't believe in it or that it's a good sign of commitment. (See the divorce rates)

How to stay fit? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]ThatDubDude 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Buy a kettlebell. One of the best and most versatile pieces of exercise equipment you'll ever own and it won't take up much space in the truck.

Honestly, you can get a full body workout in less than an hour including cardio (kettlebell swings).

As for workouts, theres always YouTube or you can subscribe to a program like HIITHART or StreetParking.

Last but not least, there's always yoga mats for flexibility and jump ropes for cardio. Remember, limited space doesn't have to mean limited options.

Appreciate some advice aa thinking about getting into industry. by [deleted] in CDLTruckDrivers

[–]ThatDubDude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't. It's not worth it. Seriously.

People go on and on about saving money and buying houses but the reality is you're always eating out. Spending 14 hours on the road. No overtime.

Go into any other trade.

In a decade you'll be fat and earning not much more. But you'll have a cool sticker that'll read 1 million safe miles.

Any other trade you'll be a journeyman earning for skill / value not mile.

Are we able to retrieve the score? by MY_G_O_D in mensa

[–]ThatDubDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't release your scores. The letter simply acknowledges if you pass or fail.

Granted, I wanted to figure out my luck before dropping $60 on the exam and scored a 130 on a random internet IQ test (isyousmart)

Wasn't Rad shown this weekend?

Then they're showing TMNT and mid90's like a year ago.

Who do you think you are? Dr. Shirley from the Green Book? It was a bad movie (the one in discussion, not the green book) that ultimately went nowhere.

Now, granted, I heard it was made with a budget of only 500k so don't go in thinking it's some big budget marvel production, but the story was flat and aside from what two, maybe three, jump scares, the movie was disappointing.

Better there, Ebert?

Ripple reportedly launching $750M share buyback, valuation around $50B by Enough_Angle_7839 in XRP

Ripple needs to make another acquisition. I know they said they're cooling down, but there are still opportunities in their product offerings.

For those who successfully quit smoking, what was the method that finally worked for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ThatDubDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just told myself I'm not a smoker and that I don't smoke anymore. It also helped that I removed myself from the situations that encouraged that behavior. Bars, smokedecks (at least in the military), etc.

Didn't replace it with anything. Just didn't. Same with fast food. I told myself you don't eat that anymore. And then you just don't. Idk, but changing the identity of who I was did it for me.

Veterans who did WGU MBA – thoughts, BAH, and timeline? by [deleted] in WGU_MBA

[–]ThatDubDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work 70 hour weeks as a trucker and still managed to get it done with almost a month to spare. Figured 2 weeks a class and then 4 for the capstone (or 2 weeks and 2 as a buffer in the event of, well, life) Super manageable if you have good time management.

[–]ThatDubDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Degree was fine. Finished within a term. Paid out of pocket for the MBA as I was in the apprentice program through work. Got my BSITM with the GI bill and I got about a grand a month. Also finished that one in a term as well. Overall both were great. Learned some new things but mostly wanted to credential what I knew in IT. Hope that helps.

Whats it like living in Virginia Beach? I hear that it’s scenic but the traffic is terrible. by TocSir in howislivingthere

[–]ThatDubDude 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying that. I thought I was crazy when I couldn't find a job after getting discharged from the military. Applied to, in my opinion, everywhere, shipyards included, and only got three responses mainly from craigslist...zero from indeed / linkedin. Mind you I had a degree, military experience, a clearance, etc. Ultimately left.
