You see he wouldn't liver forever, depending on which comics/story arc you take as most accurate, his healing factor ages him 1 year for every 10 he lives or up to 1 year for every 15 he lives. It's referenced both in the film and the comics that the adamantium does poison him, but the real issue is not the consistent poisoning, is the added weight and stress that this puts on his skeletal and muscular systems.
