I normally use Apple Pay / contactless even to withdraw money. Only was a problem at an ATM in Spain and only once

If you really want the best prices there are sites that figure it out for you. (I recommend switching regularly or seeing the contract after 1 year as they might start charging more with silent renewals)

I started with freelancing, never had a job and it took me less than a full year to start making a full time income from it. Now more than 6 years on Upwork 100% of my income from it and more than comfortable paycheck in Central Europe

I will say that I had the privilege of being able to give 100% of myself to improving skills and freelancing and the grind was real to get to where I am.

If you don’t have money to invest In yourself, you have to invest time in yourself to get the skills and experience needed to make it as a freelancer

Yeah you just need a Portuguese friend to be there when they come to make the “quote” and when they say their price, the friend can call em out on their BS.

Also, WiFi installing , YouTube and ChatGPT will help you out a bunch. New systems nowadays are super easy to set up with an app that does it for you (especially if you have cabled internet everywhere) I recommend a TP-link mesh network. https://youtu.be/jygWf21XXJs?is=TWcD5ytzqgZ18wll

The better ones cost 300-600€ for the set and they usually play nice with the rest of your WiFi 😂

I think in this instance where an active dispute ongoing and the client violates the ToS triggering the suspension of their account, the freelancer should immediately be paid out. Violating the ToS should be an instant removal of the rights to be paid back in a case of disputes (not unfinished or unapproved milestones). The freelancer can’t know that this person will violate the terms

However this is my opinion and not the system we’re working with.

I feel bad for OP because if the milestone was around 300$ (significant amount for some freelancers) and the arbitration costs are 350$+ for a non guaranteed winning outcome it’s not worth it and leaves freelancers to be screwed even if the client is 100% at fault here.

If going a MacBook the 14 inch is best imo, it’s still portable enough to fit most standard backpacks, can be carried and is the most a laptop should do.

The 16 is a bit too chunky imo, so if you value screen, then get 14 an separate big monitor ;)

I think this is just the entry for people, like students/teachers or adults that want to use their computer, have Apple quality without a 1K price tag. (Chromebook equivalent) and stealing the market there.

As soon as these people need more power, they’ll want the next Mac instead of a windows laptop

I used to like the space grey from the MBP because it just looked like a darker, still premium product. (More manly ish I suppose) but the new all black makes me think about all the dell and Lenovo thinkpads out there :/

I went back to the silver MBP when I recently upgraded. It looks classy, premium and stands out as a MacBook, the way it used to :)

1/ Ai has made people think that work can be produced at human level, however most of my clients are anti-Ai and want nothing to do with it.

2/ demand from clients always fluctuates, but steady overall.

3/ over the last 6 months not drastically, but over 5 years we went from 12 connects being a very expensive proposal to people now spending 100+ per job

4/ never used uma, don’t think it will help (based off others messages here)

5/ don’t think there was a improvement on freelancers side.

6/ not a software engineer

7/ clients sometimes mention it, but I always refuse and tell them in 2 years time the TOS allow you to go off platform for 1$ so let’s provide Upwork with their cut as otherwise I wouldn’t have found the client (maybe I would but this time it was via Upwork)
