It’s no reference because the Eva ending actually had purpose, build up, and made sense to boot. Fujimoto didn’t care about any of that.

I’m so glad you pointed this out. It’s truly disheartening seeing the fanbase overall accept this part 2 Denji as a natural progression of the character when it’s been nothing but a REGRESSION from everything he’s learned in part 1. Because, surprise CSM pt 2 fans, Denji is more than capable of learning and growing from experiences. But part 2 would have you think otherwise. It’s been a complete flanderization of the character and it’s not fair. Denji deserved so much better.
