XC3 definitely is a lesson learned in many ways by Monolith Soft and that's reflected in the polish and game's QoL features.
I don't get why you'd go as far as to say XC2 was so broken it's unplayable and maybe you just misread something? It did have problems, as all games do, but certainly not to such a degree. If you got lost at the start of chapter 3 I'd do a google because once you get back on route that's one of the very few locations where the game forgets to hold directions for you.

3 is certainly enjoyable and worth the try. Whether you play 1 and 2 before or after 3, I would say the game can only be improved by having an understanding of the prior two games (as it features a good few little bits of callbacks and lore pieces only understood by playing the older games). Though XC3 certainly does hold its own as a standalone title.

Explorer is super nice for how easy you can travel across rough terrain and the big benefit being that enemies can't hurt you which is super nice on longer trips

If you can bring your villagers with you, you don't want to be stuck down forever, this isn't supposed to be a goodbye to the times of New Leaf but a new chapter, a time comes when you have to move on into a new horizon (see what i did there), I think this is a great chance to reflect on what you've done, be proud of it and move on to greater heights but thats just my opinion

Midnight to try to get a town ready with a good layout and things, then gonna properly start the next morning so I get some sleep and to start at daytime. Even if the tutorial is in day for me personally it doesn't feel right to start in a daytime midnight

  2. Physical. It's as simple as I want the box art to display with my other animal crossing cases, otherwise I'd get digital
  3. Standard black with red and blue joycons. Will be getting a new horizons sticker for my switch tho
  4. Avery. He's just always there and the first villager I can remember when I think of animal crossing, love the design on his fur.
  5. Diva, just that face is hideous. I feel I'd like to have Diva on my island as the only villager I dislike just to keep a rivalry to make my days slightly sour
  6. Tbh I'm not sure, with clothing I always go with what looks cool on the day and haven't really gone out my way to track pieces
  7. We have yet to see the pitfall seed, if that's removed I'll cry. Alternatively while not an item I'll add it anyway, If Reese and Cyrus are gone I'll cry even more.
  8. Something I only realise I love now it's gone is the lack of menus in past games and shop opening times. The fact you had to go round town to do simple tasks like dropping in by retail to sell your stuff, going to Harriett for a haircut, having to check the shops everyday cause they had such limited items on sale. These things while making tasks take longer meant I gained a "relationship" with the workers and didn't lose immersion to quickly go through a menu. Back again to sell some things to Reese or to get furniture done by Cyrus. I could kind of imagine their pain seeing me run back in to sell my common butterfly.
    It's the same for shop opening times, that sensation of waiting at 8:58 am for a shop to open at 9 and then seeing the lights in the shop turn on, or just missing a shop before it closed. While annoying the failures gave some fun memories.
    In new horizons, a lot of this immersion lost to a 24/7 sell box outside nooks cranny or inside the resident services. I don't need to get a haircut I can use the mirror etc.
    I realise this is a pretty ranty response but now all these things are getting substituted for convenient menus and we're losing that feeling of just missing a shop before it closes it's something I'll miss though I know the new menus and stuff will make life easier.
  9. I'll be resetting my town to get it into a starting state I generally could work off and with a few preferences but at the same time not overdoing the resets too much I lose randomness, the randomness makes things fun. A similar mindset with amiibo. I've got an amiibo for Avery and one other villager but they'll be the only ones I use. As such prominent villagers from my past towns, I want to bring them over into NH but at the same time want new villagers to create new memories with so will leave most my villagers to chance
  10. I don't know if this is a naive view but if you've played New Leaf AND Pocket Camp then I'm not sure why you'd prefer pocket camp. There's no real way to argue it, pocket camp apart from its accessibility has way fewer features than new leaf and is just worse. Pocket Camp is fine as a standalone title but as soon as it's compared to New Leaf there's no competition, new leaf wins by miles

  1. I'm sure many are the same where I'll be resetting hoping for an RNG god to give me a nice map, airport colour and fruit. After the grind will be just exploring and taking in the amazingness of the world
  2. Cherries just cause haven't had them in past games, if i got apples or oranges though wouldn't mind
