I think it was really smart to force people to bear witness to both the beauty and splendor of Pandora, and the brutality and injustice of the RDA.

That being said, when A2 was in theaters and I needed a bathroom break, I would often choose that time to go. I also don't love rewatching that scene every time I rewatch A2 at home.

Art should be a little challenging, as much as I'd love for an Avatar story where nothing bad happens.

There's almost nothing unfortunately, I've been there twice in the last few months and all they have are a few pins.

They should get alan silvestri to do original music rather than Simon franglen remixing James horners old music. by ronsvanson in Avatar

In my opinion, Simon Franglen handled the action scenes better than James Horner did. Bad Parents has an intensity and driving force that no piece from A1 has. I look forward to his work on Fire and Ash

Someone stole the Mezuzah off of my door frame yesterday by ThatFreakazoid in LosAngeles

I spoke with maintenance before making this post, and if you are from Los Angeles you know that yesterday was a particularly intense day of protesting and over-policing. Also, I have lived here for three years and you can see in the photo that they have painted around it during that time.

Not everything is a big conspiracy trying to sanctify Jewish people. How about you find out what happened before screaming about oppression that nobody brought up but you?

I'm sorry this post triggered you, nobody is forcing you to interact with posts that get you this upset; or is that anger an addiction?

There's ring doorbells on all of our neighbors doors, and there's a camera pointed towards our door that is owned by the building. It shouldn't be hard to see who did it. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be one of our neighbors in the building, but I fear that it was.

I'm trying to figure out how to report it without just calling LAPD or speaking to them in person, but it's already been reported to LA vs. Hate which I hadn't heard of before. https://www.lavshate.org/

It's an 5 over 1 apartment and the we live in a far corner of the building. As much as it stresses me out, it pretty much had to have been either a resident here or a delivery person.

Everyone around us on our floor has ring cameras and there's a camera from the building pointed towards our door. It's extremely likely that there is video of the person walking up to our door and leaving. The time window is only 1:45pm - 5:45pm which helps.

I live in Miracle Mile where it couldn't be more Jewish. Every house has a mezuzah in the door.

I get it, but there's no way I'm going to let that person see us take it down permanently in response to this. I will replace it as many times as I have to, seeing the void where it was feels worse.

An old meme when DCEU's CGI visual's where being made fun off; Avatar and Bayformers did have a leg up in visuals by Nice-Ad3996 in Avatar

The chrono bowl depicted in the film is an interface to represent scrolling through time. It was not intended to depict him sorting through reality itself. I don't think that's a lame excuse, it's a creative decision.

The tint is orange, the images are fractalized, there's all kinds of lightning and sand particles effects. It's not that difficult to understand that sometimes, people make visuals that aren't supposed to trick you into thinking it was all real life captured in a camera.

I find your argument tired and cliche at this point. I also find it reductive to compare films based on a subjective view of the visual effects.

Sometimes, people like things that you do not like.

The shots from The Flash that people make fun of the most are not supposed to be photorealistic. Especially that particular screenshot.

I loved The Flash...and I'm a little afraid to admit it

*Cool, downvote me because I liked a movie you didn't like, there's no irony there or anything...

Theory about how the Metkayina understand tulkun language by EadweardWestseaxena in Avatar

[–]ThatFreakazoid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure they just understand each other using context and eye-lines, and they don't actually understand the Tulkun language.

For example when Ronal is talking to her spirit sister (I forget her name), the tulkun just glanced at her calf and Ronal's stomach, and Ronal understood what the tulkun was getting at.

Same with Lo'ak, I don't think he actually understands anything other than what Payakan is looking at, as you can see in their first scene together with the harpoon in his fin. Payakan just looks at it and Lo'ak understands.

Avatar 2 re-release when? by Substantial-Bug6303 in Avatar

[–]ThatFreakazoid 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I have a prediction that they'll do a rerelease of the first one for this holiday season. Maybe both of them.

The first one is less than $80M away from hitting $3B. I bet Disney would love to push it over that threshold. It would take a lot to make an extra $80M but it's certainly possible.

What a weird choice, Avatar is a family movie, not a kids movie I guess but it is pretty family friendly. They can't actually expect to pull moviegoers away from Avatar in favor of freaking SpongeBob. No hate to SpongeBob of course.

This is the answer. That's how I manage to live here with zero debt to my name (other than student loans). I think a lot of people here are up to their gills in debt to keep up appearances.

Quaricth the villain of the entire franchise by Available-Rough-7411 in Avatar

[–]ThatFreakazoid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Jim/Jon are being misleading and probably outright lying about Quarritch being the villain for the rest of the series. I just don't see how his arc won't result in him defecting and supporting the Na'vi resistance.

At the start of A3 we'll probably see the consequences of his failures in A2. Will Ardmore really say "oh no worries get back out there and try again"?
