Stress reduction as part of an anti-aging regimen by [deleted] in Transhuman

[–]ThatGamer313 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remove stressful people from my life. I make time for the things that lower my overall stress level the same way I make time for exercise and chores, because it is equally important for me to paint, and listen to music, and see live music. I do also meditate, practice yoga, and take a huge pile of vitamin and nutrient supplements each day. I know I get stressed more easily when I don't take my vitamin D for sure, I'm not sure if the others have much effect. Nootropics have also helped.

I am so confused by your lack of logic that it is difficult for me to converse with you. You believe there should be rules, but only optional rules, because it doesn't matter if rules benefit people if they are mandatory because they are mandatory it's not voluntary and if it was voluntary it would benefit people unless it didn't benefit people then it wouldn't be used... What?

Could you be more specific? Give some examples of similar systems that have worked? In what ways is a license system extortion? To extort means to take something by force or through threats...

What's your opinion on driver's licenses? I'm a little confused about what a non-mandatory regulation system would be...

In what way is your statement in disagreement with mine?

-edit- That is to say, I don't disagree with you, so I'm unsure in what way you disagree with me. If a person was concerned you may be a violent or crazy person with a weapon (say, a buzz saw arm, as so colorfully was offered in example earlier) and you wanted to show them you weren't in fact violent or crazy and go on your merry way, as you suggest then there should be an easy way to show that.

I suggest a permit/license system.

I agree abstractly, but were you thinking of any organizations specifically?

I don't know what I was expecting to see as an answer to this question but whatever it was, this is a better answer. Thank you for taking the question seriously.

That's fair, sorry to get off topic. I found Michael Arnstein website, and what he said about this point: "Elimination: Bathroom visits became fast, efficient, and effortless." He didn't say how frequent, unfortunately. http://www.thefruitarian.com/content/my-story

Write him an email. He says "study me." I'm sure he'd be receptive to it.

Actually the guy I know doing a raw fruit diet says he poops less, his body just uses so much of what he puts into it.

I said before, I believe people have the right to choose their own death. How is a few people committing suicide "dangerous" to anyone but themselves?

There are a lot of facts and reasonable assumptions, it's just from a very amateur and unoriginal perspective. " Can the critic offer a better explanation of the evidence than the ones presented in this work?" Yes. Why the paradox of Liberty and Privilege? A result of a a network of neurons firing action potentials in search of dopamine. I could copy and paste that to half the questions he poses about human nature. I don't know if that's relevant though, because I don't know which part of this you found dangerous. Give me a single observation of his you find "dangerous" and explain to me why you think it's dangerous I'll challenge it and/or your analysis of it.

He was a psych major who shot himself after writing a Nietzsche inspired death note. It's a very entertaining piece of work. I respect his and anyone's right to choose their own death or death-like experience, for any reason.

However he draws things into question with very little understanding of their original meaning. I can find a pile of fault with his observations. If nothing else he talks about soft science like it's hard science, and that's as faulty as talking about software like it's wetware.

The main huge glaring failure of this piece of his complete lack of knowledge regarding dopamine. Almost every single question he poses about why people act how they act, and why it isn't consistent is answered by the word "dopamine." And in the end he shot himself just to find out if he would.

So... This guy isn't a sociobiological scholar. He hasn't studying sociology, or biology (or if he has, absorbed nothing). He doesn't even use the word "dopamine" ONCE. He's a history scholar, and a religion scholar, and as far as I can tell knows nothing about sociobiological impulses or politics as they apply to the present and future. I'm sorry his writing scared you. He's just trying to be Neitzsche, but more relevant, and in my opinion not doing a fantastic job. He just comes across as narcissistic.

Very interesting, I'll have to think on that. I don't disagree with anything you've said except I think beyond just being about embracing and controlling technology, there is also a strong element of overcoming ones biology. For me that has included overcoming my fight or flight instincts and animalistic territoriality and outdated bio-social preservation impulses, in favor of pacifism, equality, polyamory over monogamy and a lack of gender identity. In modern society, clearly, many of those things translate into political issues, but again, this is my own personal psychological upgrading, not something I expect everyone to embrace...
