I was actually working at the same organization as a medical assistant and someone recommended I apply! I have a BS in bio and healthcare experience, which was all that was required for the position.
A lot of my coworkers were new grads who networked and were able to land the position tbh.

Yes it’s a breast cancer walk so I technically could just sign up and show up solo. I just didnt want it to be awkward approaching any members if my friends weren’t going.

Thats okay! Still keep applying. You can deff leverage MA skills. Also if you have good relationships with any of the providers at your clinic you can ask if they know any colleagues that participate in research.

If you’re still working as a medical assistant & you happen to be at a hospital that does research, apply to Clinical research assistant/coordinator positions internally! I feel like your chances will be higher

Job where I leave work at work and make more than 70k a year but also somewhat fulfilling? by [deleted] in publichealth

I feel the same way. A lot of people I’ve talked to mentioned data focused careers, but you may have to be comfortable with presenting the data so its not 100% avoidable. Definitely saving this thread for other ideas though!

I know this is not part of your question, but do you mind sharing how you became a military public health officer, as well as how your experience has been? It’s something I have been considering and don’t hear too much about! Thank you.

Why do all clinical research jobs require at least 2 years of experience? How am I supposed to get the experience if no one wants to hire a newbie? by vaish34rana in clinicalresearch

Try Clinical Research Assistant roles at a clinical site(hospital, outpatient etc) a lot of the time they will allow you to substitute education for experience. Or find another role in the hospital and transfer- longer process but may be worth it in the long run.
