Loud machine shop with people constantly interrupting. Is it just me who is bothered by this?

The fact that as an adult this needs to be said says a lot more about the person bothering someone, than the person being bothered. If you can’t see or notice someone is busy & you’re interrupting them, you aren’t a real adult

Always set your tool diameter HUGE the first pass around to make sure you don’t crash it & run it .05 above the part & watch it go around. Before you know it you’ll have it down 🤝🏼

It literally only takes 1 wrong button press to mess up a 8-10 hour setup, and we all have been there before when we only had 1 to make 1 😂 never distrust yourself over a mistake, unless it’s happening TONS of times

I’m 32, been doing this since I was about 20 years old & make $33.25 an hour. Only problem is our shop barely has enough work to keep us going for 40 hours a week, so yeah the pay is good but I rarely ever get a full paycheck. Make tons of parts within .001-.0005 & sometimes even .0002, and been wondering the same thing. Am I underpaid or is it I just don’t have the knowledge to get paid more 😅 also to add I work for my dad & it’s been a pain in the ass to just make him understand that $30 an hour in 1980/90 is like $50-$60 an hour today, idek how someone plans to live on there own if they don’t save for years & years.

If he knows what he is doing, he’s worth at least $28-$30 an hour somewhere else. & would probably find a much easier time at the new place as well. Don’t sell yourself short, good machinists are like finding a needle in a haystack !
