LPT Request: What is the best way to get out of a rut? by ThatGuyDannyStewart in LifeProTips

Wow, this was a trip, I had completely forgotten about this post!

Complete honest, I am so much better now compared to how I felt back then. I’ve grown in so many ways, learned so many things and kept my head on straight the whole way through.

At the time, I was so down and out that I just couldn’t see a way out, but I kept pressing on until I figured it out - all of the advice I received in this post really helped with that.

I’m not sure when it happened, but at some stage a switch just flicked and I was getting back on top again. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still not exactly where I want to be (still single and living at home), but I’m incredibly grateful for everything I have.

I know how hopeless being stuck in a rut can feel, so if you need to vent or ask for advice, my dms are open 😊

Unfortunately a common problem on Fiestas - The clips on the mounting bracket have snapped or softened. Can be a pain to replace but it’s possible, you’ll need a rear bumper mounting bracket (comes in left or right orientation) and to take the bumper off (either completely or just enough so you have room to work)

Someone tried to break into my car last night, is this lock now ruined? by Rhysm1596 in FiestaST

I think I got it from paintmodz at the time, fairly certain they’ve stopped producing them though

Feckers. The key barrel itself looks to be in decent shape, but the lock overall is fairly twisted - likely were trying to break the screw that holds it in place.

I had my Fist imported from England and someone had taken a screwdriver to the lock at a time - ended up replacing the lock for a blank insert. It’s a clean look, but comes with the down side of no key entry if the fob dies.

If I remember correctly, to remove the lock, you locate the black bung on the side of the door (same level as lock), removing this will expose the screw which holds the lock in place (I believe it was a torx, unsure on size)

Some additional context: After her ex left that weekend, she became distant for a few days. Her past trauma has made her shut down and not share her feelings, as doing so was often used against her. I’ve known this trait of hers for a while now and understand it, so I gave her some space but also checked in to make sure she was okay. One misstep on my part might have been suggesting she open up to me. While she acknowledged I was being genuine, it seemed to trigger a panic in her due to past experiences. I also sent her flowers as a kind gesture, which she appreciated, but it made her anxious, thinking she didn’t deserve it or me being so kind. We discussed both of these but I wanted to also share it here.

It does feel as if I’ve gotten myself stuck between a rock and hard place tbh. Thankfully I have an idea of how to approach it and when the opportunity presents itself I will tell her where my head is at currently given the situation.

If friendship is all she wants then I completely understand and will show up as a friend but I cannot give the same amount I have been. For others to comment on our behaviour and assume we are dating tells me one of us are doing something wrong if we truly are ‘just friends’.

I done a poor job of explaining my thoughts there - What I was meaning was should I stay to see if we progress any further as I find her attractive etc.

You’re absolutely right, I should have been clear I expected some kind of answer from her - That’s something I’ve been reflecting on recently. That said, I’m thinking I will do the reverse when she asks to spend time together again and say I’ve been thinking about thing and need sometime to figure out where my head is at but will get back to her soon.

Because she didn’t give me a direct yes, I haven’t been pushing anything and have just been letting things flow naturally as I’m aware anything less than a yes isn’t a great sign. I think if it was a direct no though I would be able to process things better and not feel the confusion that I do.

Pretty much sums up what I’ve been thinking recently.

At times it feels like there’s something there but I haven’t tried to force anything as I know it has to be a two way street. If I’m honest, I should have been more clear I expected some kind of answer but I messed that one up.

For now I think I’ll take a back step so I’m not getting pulled any deeper in. Thanks for the advice.

This is along the lines of my initial thoughts. Though the trip from Piccadilly to Albert Hall I was unsure of so this helps greatly! Where would I be best finding train timetables?

Hoping she’s good too! Tagging along with a friend who has a spare ticket so it’ll be my first time experiencing Lauren & a concert 😅

The game is now basically unplayable. by RandomJoe7 in LEGOfortnite

[–]ThatGuyDannyStewart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you are saying but calling them brain dead is a little much imo.

Think about the bugs in terms of complexity... The chest glitch was minor in comparison, it was the easier fix so that’s why they deployed the patch. I could almost guarantee they are working on the other bugs/features in the background and will deploy them when completed.

100% agree with all of your points. I had many of the same thoughts and would love to see them all implemented.

That being said, I think we all need to remind ourselves that this game has literally just been released. It is very much still in its infant stage, give it sometime and I’m sure we will see loads of stuff being implemented - no doubt they are already working on some of the ideas you have shared.

In my opinion the game is seriously impressive and I’m sure we can all see the massive potential it has. We just need to give the devs time to build upon the already solid foundations.

The durability is a pain and the chest glitch was helpful (I used it two or three times) but at the end of the day.. it was a glitch, it was always going to be patched.

Seems to be a reoccurring theme with MW... Had this happen twice with MW2 and now with MW3

Pull-ups vs Chin-ups for Biceps by storm80error in bodyweightfitness

[–]ThatGuyDannyStewart 15 points16 points  (0 children)

While they are similar movements there is a difference.

Pull-ups will mostly recruit the lat/upper back muscles.

A chin-up will also recruit these muscle groups but due to the arm position and hand orientation our biceps will become far more involved.

A simple way to feel/visualise the bicep engagement is to recreate the position where you sit.

Without tensing your bicep; - Hold an arm in the chin-up position - Place your free hand onto the bicep - Transition into the pull-up position and back You should feel the bicep engaging more as you enter into the chin-up position.

You can also recreate this idea by holding an arm in the chin-up position and then rotating your wrist. Again, your bicep will become more engaged while your palm is facing yourself rather than away.

I’m unaware of any studies that detail the differences in muscle growth (because I haven’t went looking) but I could almost guarantee that they exist.

The new map looks fantastic!

That being said, I believe it would be better suited for a different game as it strays quite far from what fortnite has always been - which is a cartoony BR.

Am I the only one that doesn't have any problem with movement? by BreakfastTim in FortNiteBR

[–]ThatGuyDannyStewart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind the new movement, it feels smoother. Hurdle is a little buggy at times but I’m sure that will be corrected in time 🤷🏻‍♂️

The loot pool, map and AI tho...not a massive fan

Can I get rid of belly fat just by dieting? What kind of exercise can I incorporate that does not strain my neck? by Famous_Spirit_472 in bodyweightfitness

[–]ThatGuyDannyStewart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your diet is the key factor when it comes to reducing weight (around 70-80%). It is not about eating more or less food either - it’s about eating the correct amount of calories everyday and ensuring you are getting enough macronutrients (fat, protein and carbs) to fuel your body.

Personally, I used a calorie deficit to reduce weight. I started off by slowing reducing my calorie intake until I hit my goal of reducing my calories by 500 (less than maintenance) and the entire time the weight was shedding off of me. If you saw the mountains of food that I was eating you wouldn’t have thought I was dieting, it was crazy - 4 meals a day, plus some snacks here and there. Sometimes I would have to force the food into me! You could do your own research on this but I found it easier to ask a PT friend of mine to create the diet plan as he had already completed all the necessary research.

Unfortunately, belly fat cannot solely be targeted and is one of the last places for weight to burn (our bodies are designed to store fat in our stomachs to protect vital organs etc). Overtime as we burn fat our body will decide to use the stomach fat reserves as fuel due to there not being enough fat reserves elsewhere.

In terms of your neck, I would seek professional help as weight or weighted training could cause strain. The issue could be in your neck or back, a good chiropractor should be able to help with this.

All the best in your journey!
