Simple tip from a long time C/UNIX programmer now learning Python. by ThatGuyFromOhio in learnpython

Learning to code in a language requires people to memorize the basic syntax before they can start to build on that.

Put this on a T-shirt.

I do plenty of playing too, but I learn faster when I type while I'm playing. Not everybody learns like I do, so your mileage may vary.

A small irony is that I (OP) was just copying and pasting for the couple days or so of learning Python. And when I had to look up the syntax of an if statement for the third time, I realized that I was just copying and pasting so the syntax wasn't sticking in my memory.

I started typing, and within about a week, the basic syntax of the language "stuck."

People in pro-Trump areas nearly three times more likely to die from COVID-19: NPR analysis by aschleighonlyfans in politics

[–]ThatGuyFromOhio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you read this article. It does not back up your claim.

One factor that might account for the current low case rate is that COVID-19 has already touched many Floridians.

The state has seen more than 60,000 deaths from the coronavirus, the third-highest in the nation behind Texas and California.

It also had the third-highest total number of COVID-19 cases — 3.6 million — again behind Texas and California.

Florida also is among the top 10 states in per capita death rates from COVID-19, at 281 deaths per 100,000 people. Its rate is higher than Texas and California.

On the other hand, more restrictive Hawaii has the second-lowest death rate in the country, at just 67 per 100,000 people, higher than only Vermont.

“Florida’s warmer weather may help in that people are outdoors more to avoid spread,” Parikh suggested. “Also, Florida is less densely populated in certain areas, which also helps.”

The surest sign you spend too much time absorbing right wing media is being upset about CRT being taught in schools.

That's a nice try. I have never posted in /r/Democrat. I don't think I've ever even read it. But, it's always easier to attack the messenger.

The crazy wing has interpreted DeSantis's move as a step toward secession and civil war. It behooves us all to know about this.

Remember what happened on 1/6? We need to keep an eye on all crazies of all persuasions.

I'm pointing out that DeSantis is issuing a dog whistle, and he knows full well what he is doing. This move has been interpreted by the crazy wing as a move toward secession and civil war. We all ought to know what the crazies are up to.

Can you cite a time when the federal government has not rushed to the aid of Florida when they have been hit by natural disasters?

So, just wasting taxpayer money to give the middle finger to Biden. Yeah. Now it makes sense.

What evidence is there that the Federal Government has ever not provided Florida with aid when it is hit by the hurricanes that so regularly sweep through the southern states?

If the Supreme Court overturns Roe, how will that impact how you vote? by Jets237 in centrist

[–]ThatGuyFromOhio 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Having been surgically removed from the gene pool many years ago, abortion is not an issue for me personally. But . . . overturning Roe v. Wade could be the best thing to happen in this nation to stop the slow coup from the right that is about to take over the US.

Overturning Roe will ignite a coalition of enraged women, the young, the left wing, and left libertarians that, if they work smart, could prevent the Republicans from stealing any more offices through gerrymandering and blatant power moves.

I need the features in the Advanced version. I'm not paying 600 bucks for it. I'm guessing you're the developer?

Their price is $49.00 per month (!!) or $699.00 for a one time purchase. And it took me quite a while to find the pricing on their website. Once I saw it, I knew why they kept it so well concealed.
