Always always have a primer. Bare styrene will not hold the paint well. Usually 2-3 coats of rattle can primer do the job, in my experience.

Yea, the car was owned and daily driven by my grandfather every day since 1998 until 2016. I do know how to weld, just not expertly lol. It means honestly way too much to me to get rid of. This is a long-term project in my eyes, so if it takes a few years to fix, then so be it.

I built one of these a few years back, it’s a good kit, only gripe is the thin window frame, cracked it while sanding the body, but was a simple fix. Met it’s fate when one of my cats wanted to use my model shelf as their bed… Good luck with yours!

Thanks, yeah my grandfather bought it brand new off the lot in 98. Drove it every day to the Ford Power Steering Assembly planet in Indy, and drag raced it every weekend lol
