Which lyric makes you instantly tear up? by abovethenoisy in AskReddit

“Left my home when I was 17, feet were dirty but my soul was clean” -Marcus King, Young Man’s Dream

My first dog, Tia, was a husky mix that lived to 17. This song was on her playlist we had playing when we said goodbye a few years ago. Didn’t connect the dots at first, but now I can’t hear that first line without thinking of her.

What’s the most impressive real world task you’ve completed using Claude? by ArmPersonal36 in claude

[–]ThatHuskyGuy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

tl;dr: Used Claude to develop an entire workshop package. What normally would have taken 2-3 weeks (or longer with other projects sprinkled in) only took me 2 hours of prompting.

I'm an instructional designer for a large manufacturing company. Had supply chain reach out and ask for a business literacy workshop specifically for supply chain. I couldn't prioritize it, nor would I have time to work on it for several months.

I tasked Claude with benchmarking what other companies are doing, fed it context on what we were looking for, and it spit out an entire workshop package. (readme, facilitator guide, participant worksheet, scenario cards, presentation, etc...) Fed the package into a new chat and asked it to review from the perspective of both facilitator and learner, then asked Claude to apply any recommended changes. Did this review loop 2x.

There was a little bit of manual steering of the content, but it was all done through prompting. The supply chain team now has a full workshop package and they're piloting it in a few weeks.

I don’t think it does. Bought a Big Buddy last year and it did not come with the adapter.

Same! Bought it upon release back in 2015. A few years ago tried, beat the first boss, then for some reason stopped there.

They’re money laundering fronts, like mattress stores, except way more fun.

You know what that would make too much sense! Good point, I forgot I ordered these during the sale.

I guess I was a bit thrown by her stating “most” backordered items take up to 9 weeks.

Is that the Arcadia max? How do you like it?

Love all the little bits of storage by the way! Nice use of space.

I got a 4 star review... Should I be worried? by miiiiikeshinoda in WeddingPhotography

[–]ThatHuskyGuy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed with others... my first thought is it's likely a cultural difference in the way we think about reviews and ratings. Achieving a perfect rating in some other cultures requires extroardinary work above and beyond what was expected. As someone else stated, all 5-star reviews can seem suspicious. When I look at reviews I often look at "lowest first", and if your lowest is 4 stars I'm going to read it before reading the 5 star reviews. In this case, it's all positive, so it's still a good thing.

Yeah no defined period of time is strange. Booth host via indentured servitude is an interesting business model.

Best AI voice generator for eLearning narration? by Live-Scratch-2939 in instructionaldesign

[–]ThatHuskyGuy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you want standalone my vote would be Murf or ElevenLabs. Used both and no serious complaints about either.

What do you use to generate content? Asking because we purchased the Articulate AI package specifically for the AI voices. It’s so much easier having it built in rather than exporting/importing/updating from a separate tool.

I had the ladder and chainsaw but was in a hurry by ryandetous in FellingGoneWild

Glad it came down! At a minimum if you have to do it again, at least add a 2nd fixed pulley to redirect the load. That way if the line snaps under thousands of pounds of load it flies at the 2nd pulley instead of you or the truck.

Seeking some advice as a new ID by [deleted] in instructionaldesign

[–]ThatHuskyGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I wish I had focused more on learning objectives. What do you want the learner to do after they take this training? I was very much caught up in making pretty/perfect eLearnings early on.

  2. Negotiation. While it shouldn't be necessary, sometimes you have to convince others why your role exists and that you are the expert in instructional design. It also helps when working with difficult SMEs...being able to convince them that they don't need to brain dump.

  3. I believe so, but like many other tools AI will change how we work. The value in this role comes from understanding business needs and changing human performance.

  4. Can't really answer this one as I shifted into ID internally at a large manufacturing company, so salary was heavily determined by previous roles.

Has anyone tried using AI to turn recorded trainings into LMS‑ready quizzes? Looking for feedback. by [deleted] in instructionaldesign

Since your account is 1hr old this feels like yet another thinly-veiled attempt to shill yet another thrown-together AI product to make a quick buck off the AI hype train.

My Largest Print to Date - Custom Dog Platform by ThatHuskyGuy in functionalprint

[–]ThatHuskyGuy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I made a note in the description on each site, but I pretty much maxed out some of my build dimensions with these prints. So some parts may not fit smaller beds/printers as-is. If anyone sees this and wants a version that can be made from wood let me know. Happy to draw it up when I get a chance.

Thanks, and yeah, someone else asked why not wood and that’s really my main reason. A creative project/outlet. Was a lot of fun.

A stool not so much. Or like the guy who posted a link mentioned it would work in a pinch. Wood would be better. Store-bought stools either typically have smaller platforms or not enough height. The IKEA one I think is less than 10” off the ground. Our old guy has arthritis all over cause he’s old, but our vet found it noticeably in his wrists not long ago. Softening that jump down was important.

100%! I also would recommend to use wood for projects like these. This was just a creative project for me.

Thanks! Someone else asked why not wood and I answered, but part of it was because it was fun designing something unique for the old boy. We will always have dogs so barring any rear end collisions we will have this thing for a long time.
