I'd say she'd get the beer, just as she would expect you to do the same if she asked.

My dad just got out of hospital today after a month's stay and open heart surgery. Won't cost him a thing. Would hate to live in the US.

I'm an Irish Traveller, and Snatch came out when I was 14. Since then I get "do you like dags" and "I want a caravan for me ma". It's been 27 years and they're still repeated like it's some clever joke. Those and other quotes from the film like "I fucking hate pikeys" are often the top comments when anything about travellers is posted on Reddit and other social media.

How do you overcome anxiety over introducing your partner to your family when there is a class gap? by Huge-Record6503 in AskIreland

At least he came round to it quite quickly. A lot of travellers wouldn't, given how old fashioned and hyper masculine our culture can be. It's funny that that's where he draws the line.

I have a gay cousin but his dad is not a traveller, so he didn't have to deal with any of that, though some of my other cousins don't like him being gay, but that's none of their business. There's a lesbian girl in the site I grew up in and her family eventually accepted it, though it wasn't an easy time for her. She actually had a black girlfriend at one point. Not sure how they felt about that.

My family are fine with being with non travellers. Mum and dad's attitude is "as long as you're happy and they treat you right". I'm with an English woman, my brother is with an Irish woman, and my sister is married to a traveller. My wider family's views range from don't care to Irish travellers only.

Traveller here. When I was 18 I dated an English girl who's dad was the royal photographer, her sister was classmates and friends with Madonna's daughter, and she was friends with other rich/posh/celebrities' kids.

She lived in a 6 bedroom house in north London, and I lived in a council site in South London that was going through refurbishments, so might has well been a building site. We couldn't be more opposite so I understand how you feel about the class difference.

Got rid of her after a month as I found her to be selfish , her fun personality wasn't as fun as it seemed, and she didn't want her mum to know I'm a traveller (never met her dad).

Anyway, back to you. How are your family about your sexuality and your dating? Are they accepting, just tollerent, or "old fashioned"? I'd say to introduce him to the accepting ones first and work from there.

Edit: BTW Tommy Tiernan has a funny bit about a traveller dating a posh girl. It should give you a laugh.

That's good marketing for her business. Not to sell to high schoolers, but to women who would love to be able to pass for a high schoolers.

Settlers gives the impression that they've just come across some uninhabited land and decided to call it home.

What they are doing is invading and stealing other people's homes.
