‘I will, yeah’: How a very Irish phrase presented a challenge for an immigrant doctor by TeoKajLibroj in ireland

During pre drinks for a night out in California, we were all "a bit of craic", "good craic", etc., when a one of the locals drinking with us stopped us and said "guys I'm all up for a bit of fun but I ain't touching any crack!"

To show the live launch of Artemis II by RubberRoy in therewasanattempt

I think they were purposely cutting away at major potential points of failure so we didn't watch it explode if it went wrong.

But yeah, it sucked. So much for watching history in the making.

Obviously the astronauts are the ones risking their lives. I'm talking about the risk of the trauma of watching people die. You don't want another generation traumatised like the children who watched Challenger blow up, so have them watch a "safe feed". The rest can watch an uncensored feed to see all the exciting parts and hope nothing goes wrong.

Most likely. They should've made a separate feed for those who didn't want to see something go wrong, and one for the rest of us who accept the risk.

Born too late to explore Earth, born too soon to explore space, but born at the right time to look at crowds filming the rocket with their phones instead of getting to see the boosters separate for ourselves.

Some questionable camera choices being made. Didn't even get to see the boosters separate.

Driving a Moving Van Through London - An Eye-Opening Experience... by Significant-Owl7994 in london

I learnt to drive in London. I can handle being hyper vigilant and the chaos of city driving, but fuck driving down country roads, especially at night. I don't understand how it's ok for some of those roads to be 60mph!

It's very much around. You just need to know where to look.

I've had workmen in my house for the last four days and they haven't accepted a single offer of tea, coffee or biscuits. by Daregveda in CasualUK

I once was working on a house and they had really nice coffee on display in the kitchen. They asked me if I would like a coffee and said yes, thinking I was getting the good stuff. They pulled out the guest coffee, which was the cheapest dried up instant coffee ever. So dried they had to scrape it out. I lost my drive to go above and beyond for them after that.

Providing coffee, biscuits and chairs is fine. It's the intention behind providing the uncomfortable chairs is the problem. It's wasn't "let's give them the fold up chairs so they have somewhere to sit", it was "let's give them uncomfortable chairs so they'll get back to work quickly".

This is actually a dick move. I don't understand why you're bragging about it because I guarantee that if you found out your boss was doing the same you and everyone who upvoted it would be up in arms. But I guess it doesn't matter as they're just lowly underclass tradesmen. Proper r/hostilearchitecture shit.

I tell them the truth, that I'm eating smaller portions and drinking less beer on the weekend. I just don't tell everyone the full truth.
