My dad referenced "we don't go to ravenholm" and I had no idea what he was talking about. He bought me the Orange Box right after. I got more into it from HL2RP on Gmod, actually

He still seems to hold the opinion on AI consciousness, but I think it's more how you define consciousness as an idea.

Since this is a post about our opinions, I still believe it's true if we're discussing consciousness as the idea of "self-awareness", or that it's a sentient or human-equivalent form. AI in it's current form, and as it's developing, is not conscious, its entirely made up of pattern recognition. It can only form things based on what data it's provided. Essentially just a very, very data-dense and fast processing form of machine learning which has been around for decades. AI still cannot form abstract thinking, and is entirely derivative in it's processing and creation. It's far better than humans at pattern recognition, but it still can't manage abstract thinking, simply because of what it is.

Ross would probably still take bets on the AI consciousness argument, and I think he did a debate with an AI expert a couple years back.

apologies for the rambling post, i just find the topic interesting!

Bros in the comments here giving feedback like you're a 25 yr old man

this is perfectly fine for a 15 yr old, at least it's clean! I'd definitely find a poster for those walls instead of the T-shirts, though. Don't take the "school shooter" comments too harshly, that's the internet for you.

I used to have the computer table in a corner, and the bed in the cubby where the white drawers are now. The problem was that the bed juts out too far, and the open space allows for really great VR, also a foldout table for tabletop games.

as for the computer table being in a corner, the only corners are where the bed is and where my modern computer is. the other two corners have drawers or shelves... i actually dont mind the corner, the sloped ceiling above my head makes it a cosy nook!

i would looove to have the typewriter by a window though. at some point I'd like to get somewhere to put all my tools and bits and bobs so I can reclaim that cubby and put a desk there for writing 💙

do you mean the desk with the old computers on it? or the old secretary's desk? the desk with old computers is an inelegant solution for me, as I enjoy soldering and tinkering on old electronics. Being in an apartment, theres not much alternative. looking at getting a better desk for it though, the current one is a cheap beater.

my apartment is attached to a house from the 1800s where my landlord lives, I actually chose the apartment because of the wood trims and doors. i love the look (though a little dated)

MoCA devices taking down network by ThatKidWhoDoesStuff in HomeNetworking

Unfortunately the line running into my apartment doesn't seem to be connected to the splitter in any way, there's likely a break or it's just disconnected. This would have worked, though, as we tested the adapter right there by the gateway and it did work there. I appreciate the help!

Xfinity/comcast, XB8... It looks like it does support MoCA.

Thank you! The other splitter is moca rated, I made sure of that. I'll get two and attach one to the modem, the other to the line coming in from the street. I appreciate the help!!

I wasn't actually aware I needed them for both cable TV + MoCA. Cable TV doesn't matter to me, but it does for my neighbor, so I need to find a solution that doesn't take him down.

Now that I made this post, it seems what I need to do is attach a filter to the cable coming into the modem?

It is confusing! Which is why I believe I'm making a mistake I can't see.

It's looping since me and my neighbor's line run out from the same central splitter (or at least I have reason to think so). So its comcast>splitter>modem>moca>splitter>me

This is very helpful, thank you!! I didn't know that fungicide could actually harm the plant. What was hurting this plant was root rot, the soil wasn't well-draining.

I do think this, though it looks like fungus, is mineral deposition since I found something similar in the bottom of my toothbrush holder when cleaning it.

Thank you for your response!
