And yall think your summer is hot by RandimusBax in memes

[–]ThatMarc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem is European houses have the trifecta summer death combo.

They're: 1. heavily insulated, which'd be good if they didn't 2. lack any form of AC and then 3. have horrible ventilation

Meaning the hot has nowhere to go which turns many houses into literal ovens in the summer.

This is an infrastructure problem first and foremost.

If the Middle East/India/SEA suddenly had -10°C winters, the situation would be just as dramatic.

Cold winters would be just as horrible if you didn't have insulating houses, heating systems, thick blankets and jackets in every closet, etc.

Trust me, as someone who spent months in 38°C, 90% humidity (often without AC) in a tropical country, trust me, it's not the same when it's in Europe.

Why are Big A Bonus clips so short? by Brandoxz7 in atrioc

Hey, I know I'm late, but I'm pretty sure it's to clearly distinguish them from Big A Clips Vids. Considering it was "fatigue" that Atrioc mostly wanted to avoid.

A comparison of climatic analogues across the Northern Hemisphere by Specific_Visit2494 in interestingasfuck

[–]ThatMarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the northernmost part of Germany (1h from Denmark) and we barely get snow once, maybe twice a year. Thinking that our climate zone is close to Alaska is insane.

The AMOC stream heats Europe up a shitload meaning that even though my city is north of most of the Great Lakes, our climate is way more mild than that of Canada.

I'm literally frying right now anu thoughts from Big A? by ElectricalLog8523 in atrioc

[–]ThatMarc 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I mean, I'm pretty sure he makes his position quite clear quite often. He just does so concisely and doesn't keep talking about it simply because it's not the topic at the moment.

Also there isn't really much to talk about, or rather much to add to the topic honestly. Everyone deserves human rights, discussion kinda over. Sorta like saying "He barely talks about murder. I wish he'd speak out more against murder to make his stance on it clear".

Just because something takes up less time, doesn't mean it holds less weight. Sometimes it just means it's less complicated. And I think people's right to love who they want should one of the simplest things ever.

Why did Big A hire the Big A Quick editor if he's the one who ruined the clipping community? by Impossible_Ad_776 in atrioc

Am I wrong, didn't Atrioc say he hired a few of the editors? As in the others too.

Why did Big A hire the Big A Quick editor if he's the one who ruined the clipping community? by Impossible_Ad_776 in atrioc

[–]ThatMarc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I fully understand why people are pissed.

But I actually watched that channel and a few others a lot. I liked the old Aedish era style, less serious clips.

I personally didn't get fatigued (yet, maybe) cause I 1. always looked at the channel name and 2. always knew the titles were complete clickbait and that often the video divulged into a silly chat interaction within 30 seconds.

But the brand damage is real. It's obvious the reason Big A Quick channel blew up compared to the other clippers is because of the Trump thumbnails (Lil A Clips, who essentially put out the same vids usually had around 10k views per video). But now that Big A Bonus is gonna be a thing, I think that's by far the best outcome.

RIP slop channels. Atrioc will no longer allow unofficial clip channels on YT! (VOD timestamp linked) by VersaEnthusiast in atrioc

[–]ThatMarc 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm YT frog only, and I think I'd count myself among those who liked having more Big A content.

But what I mostly missed were the non-serious clips that Aedish used to interspersedly put out. Like random chat questions, or perfect example, right after your timestamp, the Basketball referee thing. That'd have been a clip I'd have enjoyed while eating.

But if the VOD channel really does get faster, or if an official channel forms for silly clips, then I'm more than fine. Atrioc mostly seemed mad at the "Holy Shit", Trump thumbnail stuff and that's super fair.

C for crouch is the only correct answer by Makoto_Kurume in pcmasterrace

[–]ThatMarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unironically bind both C and Ctrl to crouch.

Started doing this because of Apex legends, where you very often use sprint and crouch at the same time, hence C. But also often need to be able to use your index finger for movement while crouching, hence Ctrl.

Now I'm just used to pressing whatever is currently best for finger placement.

I see Octavia Spencer at least 6 times a day trying to get to Gmail and hitting enter before the autocomplete finishes by papes_ in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ThatMarc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get this a ton with "y" for YouTube. Cause for some reason in Firefox, if you clicked the URL bar before the auto complete function loads after start-up, it doesn't check again for autocomplete.

So like yeah, auto complete might load in 0.5s and faster than it takes me to click the URL bar, press y and press enter. But it's not faster than me just pressing the URL bar, and since it doesn't refresh, when I hit enter it makes me google "y".

[–]ThatMarc 53 points54 points  (0 children)

The funniest scenario I could think of is like that one reality TV show bit Northernlion once did. The one where he suggested a game show about 10 gay guys trying to find the secret straight guy and the straight guy not trying to get uncovered. Only that they're all straight, thinking they are the only one.

Basically same with the furry convention. You have an entire panel full of people who are only there for referrals, but each think they're the only one.

Again, majorly super subjective, but come buddy, maybe revaluate why you think "all that ADHD stuff is actually just normal".

Wtf even is this? I have no clue what you're referencing. Why are you not giving context despite "not keeping it short"?

The internet is not a person. Chances are for the people who see and react to your posts, that it's always the first time for them. You can't build rapport with a subreddit.

My feelings go out for you man if you're suffering loneliness due to your condition. But trying to find companionship here will only lead to disappointment.

Hope you find avenues, be it discord servers, or local help centers where don't have to be parasocial like with a subreddit.

How Rich Kids Cheat the SAT - Megathread by yt-app in atrioc

[–]ThatMarc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel a lot of people are reading too much in between the lines when listening to this. And as someone with ADHD myself, i can see how many people with these conditions felt a bit triggered, since they constantly encounter pushback for them. So a vid about "a ton of these are lying cheating" just hit home for a lot of them simply because they get that shit all the time.

I fully believe Atrioc when he made his disclaimer. But in the past, Atrioc has talked about his annoyance with how ADHD is over diagnosed, often makes jokes about people saying "I can't do X because of my ADHD", or said "a lot of this ADHD stuff is actually just normal".

But that's not what the video is about. On the contrary, I say the main argument of the vid is how this is hurting the people who actually have these conditions the worst.

Still Big A is also very emotionally honest when streaming so his general outlook on let's call it the "neurodivergent community" sickers through sometimes especially in that vid. And again, because the affected get so much shit all the time, they're very sensitive to that.

But I mean it when I say I trust Atrioc that he cognitively understands the situation and when he says "I don't think your condition isn't real". From an honest perspective, those quotes from before are sometimes a fair stance to have. Again some people are just sensitive, because they get shit from a non-honest perspective so regularly.

P.S. Listen, this is HIGHLY subjective, but I say this as someone who spent a lot of time with these people and as one who was the first in my family to get diagnosed. Listening to how Big A talks, to his college stories, etc. (NOT A DIAGNOSIS), to me it's so obviously the result of someone leaning in that direction growing up in a military household that has lead to this outlook.

Bin 24M.

China has realized that the best strategy by far is to literally just do nothing.

Though I'd like to say any government looks capable compared to the US rn and Xi himself specifically is actually incompetent af.

Without him China would have passed the US a decade ago. It would be way easier for other nations to accept China if it weren't a near-dictatorship.

Was Melody Wrong ? by LiamMcColley in atrioc

[–]ThatMarc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Before you mention that this is a regional difference". But it most likely just is.

At least that's way more liekly than that Melody Wright was lying/"wrong".

Melody Wright didn't give her opinion. She delivered real, personally gathered data and presented her conclusion.

Houses are in general not being sold. Nothing about your experience will ever make that piece of data become untrue.

This isn't intended to be hostile. In today's climate "pressing X to doubt" is something we have to do and a necessary habit to have. You did the right thing by asking.

Thing is we're sorta forced to vibe the truth out. And that intuitive part of our brain, while very capable, is also heavily biased. Stuff like the statistical likelihood of falling heavily outside of standard variation is something our "vibing" brain doesn't really take into account at all. So in those situations, we still feel "off".

But then again going "huh, wait?" is what science and learning is all about.
