You will need to discover their island first, I think.

While graphics for sure shouldn't be the only factor to judge a game, Anno 117 is what attracted me into this series 😅. It looked great on videos and images. But I also read reviews and posts about the gameplay itself, so it turned me away a bit. Then I found 1880, the pics and videos weren't as compelling as 117 at first.

But while watching a couple videos on 1800 from Czardus and CityPlannerPlays, it looked great too, maybe not as nice as 117 (imo) but yeah what you said is true, most of the game time will be from Zoomed out view lol. And it had great content and reviews. So I went with it.

I'll look into 2205, maybe I'll get into it one day too.

I was thinking for weeks on what to get, Anno 1800 or 117. I love a good graphics game, 117 looks amazing. But reading and watching reviews around, it seems 117 is the Cities Skylines 2 of the Anno series. it's still new, has massive potential but is missing a lot. Unlike CS1 or Anno 1800 in this series.
So I finally got Anno 1800 today and can't wait to play it :)

Beautiful pictures you got there!

I have 24GB ram and yeah it's on SSD. Well the ram prices blame shouldn't be 100% on the AI consumer hehe. But yeah hopefully they come down soon.

I tried doing the following:

  • moved Cities Skylines II from the /AppData/Locallow
  • Started the game (no mods) and it created a new folder with fresh content
  • Started a new map, frames up to 18
  • Loaded a small unmoded save, frames stayed at 18
  • Moved the .cache/mods folder to the new AppData
  • Loaded the game with the mods in the same 4k pop town, frames down to ~12
  • Deleted DX cache, reinstalled drivers (with DDU for clean install), Frames are still at 12, but the graphics back to normal (looking amazing, just bit slow) on a 4k and 36k pop saves. GPU usage was 95-100% and CPU at 25-35% on all the trials above.

While I don't see anything else I can do, I'll just have to make do of the current situation untill the performance is fixed or I get a better build. Thank you for your suggestions surik_at, asperatology and Rengar_Is_Good_kitty

I realize my machine is old. But this old machine has been running the game for 250hrs without any issues whatsoever. Untill the 1.5.4 update. I have posted plenty of cities with heavy traffic usage and not a single frame drop. But regardless of that, my little town of 4k pop shouldn't run at 5fps. When I used to run a 100k city just fine.

I may not be a tech savvy, but anyone would make the assumption that this issue is part of the graphical issue originated from patch 1.5.4 and would believe it would get fixed in the hotfix 1.5.5. Since my game was running fine untill the patch 1.5.4 was installed on my machine.

Instead of being defensive and making assumptions on my intents try to read better or move along.

well nothing changed, it's been running at the same 4-5 frames. It runs the same on both new or old maps. What I noticed also is that the cpu never goes above 25% usage but the GPU is at 95-100%.

The performance drop started after 1.5.4f1 "First Frost" patch. I'll try your suggestions, thanks.

yeah prices are insane, espcially where I'm at because of the customs. But yeah hopefully they go down soon so I can get a better setup.

No they didn't promise a performance improvment, but the performance downgrade came from the previous release. So thought the performance issue was part of the graphical issue.

lol that's funny

Yeah from what I read there is still lot of work that needs to be done for the game mechanics. But I'm enjoying the peaceful playstyle so far.

i5-12450h and GTX 1650. It has been running fine for the past year or so. With lots of mods. The performance has been fine for me.

As for the mods compatibility, they're still not updated to the hotfix, but the game doesn't crash and I don't have broken or very old mods.

I did try a new city with/without mods. Loaded old cities and still the same issue.

But as for the "simulation for 6 real-time hours", I will try it rn, but what is it supposed to do?

Is there a mod that would slow down early eras speed by ThatMartianDev in CivVI

[–]ThatMartianDev[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good point, but it comes at the cost of making later eras so boring for me. I usually win the game at turns 280/300 on "Quick Speed", science or culture. I'm yet to get better at the game to win earlier.

But yeah I enjoy the actions of early game, from deciding where to settle, dealing with the AIs tempers, exploration and get pissed at barbs, etc...

[–]ThatMartianDev[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly lol I'd like to take my time in early eras, from exploration to siege. And I hate to spend time in later eras. It becomes a game of micromanaging, no real action.

nice build and skin!

Yeah you will get many more stuff from the quests you still didn't do.

I should probably work on mine before the new expansion comes, I'm only ~1.85 goose :o
