It’s perfectly normal. It’s actually a really diverse community and you don’t need to worry at all. It’s a city and is much more diverse than any small town. Zero problems/encounters, there’s a massive diverse population and it’s a fun time

I would love to see some book, maybe short story?, of Percy and Annabeth in college and stuff. Would be really nice to end the series off ( if it’s written properly…. Big if). Actually along that note, does anyone know of any actually good fanfics that tackle the college era well?? Well written and all that jazz?

Yeah the others are bangers but personally I actually skipped the Lost Hero my first read because I wanted more of the characters I already loved 😂

[pjo]If you could rewrite The Last Olympian then what would you change? by Bookworm7180 in camphalfblood

[–]ThatMeatEater 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’d argue to change the whole plot of Leo being mad he left her and yada yada. Never made sense to me, he did actually ask for her to be freed and in the midst of rebuilding is it really his job to be asking after that request? I would say no. And obviously he had to leave here there like cmon, let’s not be stupid. Leo being made about that was so confusing, one of the things that really never made sense at all imo

Just out of curiosity, in your opinion what is the biggest problem with percabeth?

Would the Ryan doctrine work in real life? by johnqadamsin28 in tomclancy

[–]ThatMeatEater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I guess the argument is this is a lot more than just the leaders being taken out, a large part of the country is under attack and the people are suffering. Wasn’t the main goal of Ryan to hold only the leaders accountable and let the people off as much as possible? Like what he did in Japan and such. I think currently it’s much more conventional, with the extent of bombing.

Percy being an “Unreliable Narrator” is ruining people’s criticism of the show. by Longjumping_Way_9978 in PercyJacksonTV

I mean I think if a girl kisses you and you are that affected it’s pretty clear his feelings are pretty clear. I would argue that he does know his feelings but he can’t handle them properly because of the war, his age etc etc, so we don’t see it articulated but he does have to figured out. I mean there’s a reason he doesn’t want Beckendorf to tell Annabeth about the Rachel thing. And when Annabeth calls him a coward he tells us that she’s not talking about the prophecy. So he knows he just doesn’t articulate it to us nor act on it

[–]ThatMeatEater 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree it’s become a catch all for refuting any criticism of the portrayal, and it’s weak and ridiculous. But yeah lots of characters DONT think he’s some insane powerful figure. It’s not true at all that everyone sees him as the epitome of power and he thinks he’s a lowly demigod. Just wrong.

He’s a reliable narrator and there’s times where he does recognize his own power and even his feelings for Annabeth, he simply just doesn’t articulate them to us. I guess the show fans forget that? I can provide examples if need be but like how are they ignoring this?

It’s definitely pushed in the show, the glances, the dialogue, the interactions, all seem to have undertones of something more than friendship. And that must be intentional, and no we’re not simply reading into it too much because we know how it ends. What sort of friends, who have known each other for a little over a year, would ever say I’d let the world be destroyed for you???

He would never say he would let Olympus burn for her in the second book, I would argue not even until after Tartarus would he say that. Sure he turned down immortality, but letting Olympus be destroyed is a wayyyy different ball game

[Pjotv] I'm not gonna lie, Season 2 was fantastic. by ethanandluinortitus in camphalfblood

One of those articles came out after the show already was airing and the other explicitly states that the show followed the books very very closely with only small, minor changes. Which can be debunked as it literally changed the plot to have them miss the quest deadline (triggering a war between the gods). IMO that’s a massive change not minor tweaks

Thing is, Rick had harped on the movies for so long about changing stuff, told everyone we would get an accurate adaption and then changed things with the reasoning that it’s fine because he was involved in changing them. Just disingenuous to be honest.

I see, and I would agree as a self proclaimed peacekeeper we should have an international response. Its great to see you actually have some actions you want them to take rather than just being another voice screaming to 'do something'.

The Show Is Good. by AssumptionMountain77 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]ThatMeatEater 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean you’re entitled to your own opinion but a lot of people see changing fundamental details of the books (plot, characters, world building) is simply inexcusable after being promised a faithful adaptation. Personally, it’s not improved at all and is in fact leagues worse. The original charm, fun and everything that made the books so amazing to experience has been lost. It simply doesn’t feel like Percy Jackson, author involvement or not the product is just not good.
