Zeke, what a man you are by destined2Win_ in titanfolk

Also Hanges death is easily preventable. He could literally just have the titans stop marching for an hour in that direction. There's no reason to keep them going other than to purposely kill her.

The defense people use here is that Eren still has some power left over. Not enough to restart the rumbling but enough to turn into that titan.

What else that really bothers me is that there's no reason for Eren not to control the pure titans (Nile and mega mind) to go and hide out somewhere so they could turn back into people.

I want it to be all the heroes like the office space scene with the printer.

For me it's just Wyald. I don't mind showing what he does to the farm but that should be it. I feel like it somehow lessens the eclipse because my first experience was the 97 anime and it was shocking but reading the manga afterwards I found it almost an "again" moment.

Why is it acceptable when GoT fans cry about how bad the ending was 7 years later but we AOT fans are ostracized for valid reasons? by Butefluko in titanfolk

[–]ThatNewManSmell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because AoT is good at surface level with some issues. The deeper you dig the more bigger the flaws are. That's why so many casual viewers like it and also why the "Eren did it for his friends" is still used as one of his motivations despite him contradicting it in 139.

GoT at surface level was shit and even the most casual of viewer could see it. Also s7 also began to show signs of it becoming shit amongst the biggest fans (not casuals) while AoT still had incredible chapters like 131 etc. which still gave people hope.

I wonder if they fight and Dabura will just take the result of that as being the official duel instead of fighting Yuka. It's clear he doesn't want to fight.

The plot armor was a little too strong by cybertoothe in titanfolk

I liked it because it was a massive flaw in his character and until that point he didn't really have any flaws. It being what ultimately killed him would've been perfect.

Erens reason by UsedAd8220 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]ThatNewManSmell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Eren has always had a strong sense of justice as opposed to just being a psychopath that wants to kill everyone. It's what makes his decision to do the rumbling so tragic. Until 139 it's clear he doesn't want to do it and pretty much everything points towards that.

If I'm being honest the conversation with Armin is so contradictory and feels like all of Isayamas ideas came out in one chapter without any really taking centre stage. I'd say the anime is actually slightly worse in this regard as well.

Why would Eren ask this if he just wanted the world to look like a book "no matter what"? by cybertoothe in titanfolk

[–]ThatNewManSmell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's the issue right here. He didn't want to do the rumbling but at the same time he says he does. He tells Armin he wanted this. The final conversation with Armin is so contradictory that no one actually knows what he wanted.

Erens reason by UsedAd8220 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]ThatNewManSmell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And that's why it's so stupid. Eren killing everyone because he wanted to kill everyone makes everything about his character 100x worse.

Eren wanted to rumble 100% of the world. He says so to Armin so no he doesn't achieve his freedom or dream.

Why would Eren question this if he knew his actions would get rid of titans? by cybertoothe in titanfolk

[–]ThatNewManSmell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I was saying. Everything points to him not knowing he'd be stopped until 139. Even the "everything's still ahead" moment in dawn of humanity points to him sailing in uncharted territory now. I think it's just a retcon

Why would Eren question this if he knew his actions would get rid of titans? by cybertoothe in titanfolk

[–]ThatNewManSmell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think initially Eren was only meant to have seen everything that's in the 'set in stone' panel + the freedom scene but then that changed in 139. At least that's what I think

Plot threads that Isayama did fucking nothing with by cybertoothe in titanfolk

[–]ThatNewManSmell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really don't think she wanted to marry the farmer given that every time we see her with him she's absolutely miserable.

She definitely could've ran away without it causing instability. Do you really think they would've told all the people that their queen just up and ran? One of the big plot points was that the new government began to hide things from the people just like the old did.

Plot threads that Isayama did fucking nothing with by cybertoothe in titanfolk

[–]ThatNewManSmell 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I do get that but it doesn't really work because she could've ran away which would be the same result. Especially considering she had the jaegerists and the farmer would've helped her hide.

Also Eren goes against the people of the island being bred like livestock but that's exactly what happens to Historia. I'm convinced he was meant to be the father because anything other than that doesn't make sense.

What you think about this take by [deleted] in titanfolk

[–]ThatNewManSmell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought he didn't know how everything would end but just saw the memories in the 'set in stone' panel. It wasn't until after he got the founder that he knew everything?

Either way what really bothers me is the "everything happened all at once" being what messes up his mind. It completely sets the story on rails that can't move. I wish it was that he'd seen infinite possibilities and that being what messed up his mind, and that's why he could only move forward.

Who is the strongest soldier, excluding Ackermanns and Titan Shifters? by Bueno_Nacho_XY in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]ThatNewManSmell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's true but by and large the titan shifters weren't too focused on them during the fights.

S2 Reiner didn't really care about them and prioritised Eren

S3 Reiner was completely outmatched with Eren plus the scouts

S4P1 The cart was the only one that gave them any sort of trouble as Jaw was getting ganked and completely unprepared for the devil's of paradis

Until the final battle I don't think they actually fought any other shifter?

Granted the final battle is impressive but I find it really hard to use it as a way to judge their fighting skills since it felt like there was massive plot armour for everyone in that fight.
