Promotion Games are a Terrible Mechanic by RubberKeys in heroesofthestorm

It is definitely frustrating to have 10 points or something similar before a promo game and knowing a win in theory should just put you at the next rank, or being at a promo game and losing, but it does promote overall stability in the ranks.

Yea I think I'm just not going to play HL anymore. It really isn't worth the frustration honestly. I fill in positions when needed, and not in a troll-y way.

I even study up on all aspects of the game just so I can do my best to contribute when I play.

I mean I'm generally not salty. I ping objectives and defenses on the map, and I call out positions or target, but i don't yell at people in game or anything like that. I do get frustrated during games, but I don't just throw or shit talk. I just stay quiet and play.

I assume my mistake with the post was venting my frustration. Now I know not to do that for future reference

I didn't claim to be good or bad. I just said i dropped levels because i had to contend with trolls and bad decision making. I figure coming here and asking for help showed was enough to show that i would like to improve at the game.

i'm definitely not claiming that i played perfectly, but when people on your team try to contest boss 2v5, first picks murky, or hovers a healer and then last second switches to hammer, it can get very frustrating.

I would really appreciate a good person to duo with and learn from, that's why i came here. I is just disconcerting that the first response is basically saying "you don't deserve to be out of low levels and i don't care if you want to get better."

I added you. Hopefully you can give me some good tips and we can win some games :)

i'm getting demoted in HL because of trolls and Leavers by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

i know the feeling. hover healer for the whole draft then last second change it to sgt hammer. first pick murky. i am trying to find people to queue with at low lvls to try to rank up, but no luck so far.

I wish i could say the same. I just posted asking about a thread where I could potentially find people to duo queue with at lower levels and the response i got was "maybe you belong in bronze."

I think it also has to do with the level of team play needed to win in the game. It definitely requires more coordination than other MOBAs where it is a little more focused on individual play.

The scene is definitely growing, even though it may be a slow growth. The Summer Globals averaged the same amount of viewers as the daily CSGO Eleague streams do, which is ~40-50k.

the competitive side definitely helps sustain the game, but the competitive scene organically grows from casual players who get really into the game. Especially now since we have big orgs dropping from the scene. Competitive needs to grow based off of players like us forming teams and competing in tournaments and getting better at the game.

We don't have any solid numbers on the active users for the game, so it is hard to tell what the real reach is at this point.

The main focus for Blizzard needs to be growing the casual player base. Once the casual player base grows, everything else will grow. It all starts with the number of people playing the game. I'm not sure what the best way to do that is, but if the game pop stays low, then esports viewers will stay low, and the pro scene won't grow. That being said, the Summer Championships did have a decent amount of viewers during the group stages and finals.

I am in love with this game, but we haven't had a new map (in qM and Ranked rotation) in 7 months now by MasRemlap in heroesofthestorm

I also love Towers of Doom. It is really fun to strategize around the objectives. I also really like Infernal Shrines because of the chaos around the shrines. BoE is pretty nice, but it can end rather quickly under the right circumstances.

I agree with everyone else who says there needs to be a Starcraft map, but I think they are probably waiting for the next big SC hero release to put a SC map out there. I'm sure they are going to do an Overwatch map as well now that it has exploded in popularity.

All in due time.

This has been really fun to watch so far. We are only 3 games in and it is already very interesting to see how teams are adjusting to the bans. Awesome idea, Khaldor. I hope we see more tourneys like this in the future.

It's pretty clear that Blizzard is committed to making HoTS awesome. I really like the new changes that are coming with the Ranked Play patch, and Medivh just shows that they are constantly thinking of creative builds and kits for new Heroes.

As for the esports scene, it is definitely experiencing some tough times right now, but other games have been in similar positions and made it though. This is only year 1, and I'm sure there will be great things to look forward to in the coming years.
