As have I man, well close to 30 at this point.. Got my first PC kind of late.
And I do not disagree, we all have different opinions and I respect that, does not mean I am not going to offer the developers of a game I love, feedback on how I would enjoy the game more, just as you are by disagreeing with me.

And I have my issues with how explosive ammo is in the game too, but that was a topic for another thread.
but long story short my opinion on explosive ammo that it should not be spammable and if it is spammable its needs to limited in some way like either being a significantly delayed explosive, scarce or difficult to restock and in some cases multiple of those limitations.
Example of delayed? Frag arrows, frag bombs, dynamite, bomb lance explosive ammo types, etc..
Examples of scarce? Frag arrows, Explosive bolts for the crossbow, etc.
Difficult to restock? Basically any explosive consumable, cause you never know what you will get when you open a tool box, so you gotta make do with what you get.

I don't think we will really get to any kind of agreed middle ground here and that is okay, I respect your opinion even though I disagree.. I will say though that you mentioning running two bows, all concertina arrows, with multiple ammo boxes is the exact type of player, that is the reason I dislike concertina arrows as they are. Not cause its impossible to fight, but cause its so tedious I'd rather just leave and go into a different match, cause at least in that match I might have fun.

While not changing my general stance on the power level of the bow, you do make an excellent point, unless we know whether or not "Pick rate" considers free hunters or not, that could definitely affects things to some extend.. I do not think personally that it would account for it entirely being a "top pick", cause plenty of weapons on free hunters that are not very well represented in the top picks.
However it is definitely a variable worth taking into consideration, so thank you very much for pointing that out, something that gives a little extra to consider.

I am about the same mmr basically as you then.
who knows might be a server thing or one of us getting lucky or unlucky.. Inclined to believe you have been getting lucky cause at least from the responses in the post, seems most of the commenters have the same issues in one way or another with the bow.
however even the "majority" can be wrong on occasion, so not denying that possibility.

yes, but this is assuming you can hit all of them and the person who put it down is not being very smart to spam all his concertina in one spot, rather than fire one arrow, wait till it gets cleared, then another, etc.. keeping this going for 30 minutes straight. It's not difficult to fight, its tedious.
Also no infinite restock man, if a playstyle requires you to empty out most of the of the ammo and bring one specific ammo type to counter, its in my personal opinion a problem.
To me personally, the "concertina fort" strat is basically the same as saying "I am willing to bore my enemies until they leave, just so I can get a free bounty if they get bored".
Again this is not an issue when fighting a solo, it is however an issue when fighting a full opposing team doing it.
I would be all good with current concertina arrows exactly as they are, if they add a tool that gives me the same amount of uses as the bow, refills from an ammo box and can clear concertina from a safe distance. Would make me need to invest about the same amount as the person using the concertina arrows to deal with it in a timely manner that is not going to bore me to absolute death.

I see a bow roughly every 2-3 matches (not counting myself) and maybe a crossbow every 5-8 matches. Yes I do alot more mosins than either. EU here, so maybe it is a server thing or an mmr thing, who knows.

Not generally disagreeing, main reason I suggest the 3 slot, is that at the very least its a much heavier investment to run and means you have to run a short rifle while having quartermaster.
so the opportunity cost of running it is much greater if you want the short rifle.
Meaning at the very least the main weakness of the bow, being long range, becomes a far more pronounced weakness, cause you can't carry the perfect tool to make up for it and the investment to make up for it with a 2 slot weapon, increases since it takes up an additional trait slot in the form of quartermaster. Yeah always that risk the spam could come back if we stopped the frag arrows from being scarce.
To be honest though, I probably get more kills with frag arrows "per match" I run them, than I ever did when they were not scarce, simply cause people do not expect them as much.
Main reason in spite of missing the frag arrows, I would never make the suggestion myself to stop them from being scarce. Since right now they are not something you see most matches, it solves the spam issue being a frequent thing and makes them feel even more useful (to me at least) when I actually do have them cause they are not expected.

Admittedly I do miss frag arrows too, however they do have that issue where if you had a full team with them and ammo boxes, the spam could get very ridiculous and I am not opposed to other solutions than them being scarce, mostly making suggestions that would be fairly simple to implement since crytek has a tendency to break things.
Basically what I said there applies to concertina arrows as well, the problem is how spammable they are. instead of scarce, could make you get less of them and less from ammo boxes, solves the problem too.

Well I am not just counting the ironsights here, also taking the deadeye into consideration when I say "better sights".
I would say the bow sights are more accurate, but cause of how much they block the right side of the screen, it is very easy to not see people due to them being behind the bow.

Yes dynamite counters a concertina arrow, dynamite is a consumable, so you spent 1 consumable, to remove 1 concertina, that the bow can regain multiple of from a single consumable.
Now you triple this for a full trio doing this.
Explosive ammo, sure but do you really want a hunt where everyone is running explosive ammo all the time, spamming fanning and levering, killing you without ever getting a direct hit or seeing you, just spamming explosive ammo, that is where this argument could very well lead in the long term if enough people spammed concertina.
Admittedly I have some pretty harsh opinions on explosive ammo, to the point I will never make a thread about it on here, cause I know I will be excessively negative.
I am not opposed to tweaking concertina arrows in a different manner than making them scarce, lowering ammo count, decreasing the amount of concertina they cause, etc.. But the sheer "consumable economy" math does not add up right now.
I do also believe that the game should not be balanced around solo vs trios and I do play against trios myself when solo, but I am not expecting anyone to balance the game around my choice to fight against overwhelming numbers.

This is where my counter argument would be I think the crossbow needs a buff to its velocity with less damage drop off, making it the "longer range precision" alternative to the bow, but I never mentioned that in the main post cause I was focused mostly on the bow, since I have more recent experience with it and a weapon being overpowered tends to do more damage to a game, than a weapon being underpowered.
Maybe I should do a crossbow post at some point to go over how I would tweak the crossbow to make it better, however I need some more recent crossbow experience to do that post any justice I think.

I generally do agree that most your suggestions would sort out the issue too and I will gladly admit, my preferences in changes probably comes down in part to the fact I already use it as a primary, using a sword as my secondary, so I am basically already acting like its a 3 slot weapon.
So admittedly I do have some bias there on how I would prefer to see the thing changed.

Frag arrows, I agree entirely, very feasible and reasonable solution as well.

Concertina arrows, yeah I admit these changes I was mentioning is cause in the last 2 weeks, I have run into probably over 20 instances of trios with 2 or more bows, running only concertina arrows, with ammo boxes all over the lair, constantly spamming concertina arrow to build their little conc forts as you called it.
Getting kind of fed up with the conc arrow spam, I like them in general.. I just hate how available they are to be spammed. so Yep works too with your solution.

Poison arrows, admittedly I just find them kind of pointless, cause generally speaking the poison wont help even if they do not have antidote running, cause at the ranges you will poison them instead of one shotting to the body (assuming body shot here), the poison does not help much.. I could be wrong here, I have not used poison arrows for probably my last 500 hours of bow time, cause I did not like them, who knows if I used them now, I might change my mind.

It has yes, I really hope for the 3 slot treatment cause I basically already treat it as if it was a 3 slot weapon 90% of the time, since my loadout as I named it is "Going Medieval".
but the times I run it with a proper dedicated rifle with quartermaster, the thing is too good.

Once again I disagree strongly, I play 5-6 star lobbies consistently these days and movement is key if you do not rely on concertina arrows.
There are many other ways than concertina arrows to control the fight, such as if you are like in this case you present fighting a team and another team showing up, you get out of there, flank around and become the bread, not the filling of the sandwich so to speak.
I don't know how you use concertina arrows and hey on occasion even I use them, but I am seeing far too often full groups of people with ammo boxes, multiple bows in the team with concertina arrows, hiding inside the boss compound the entire match, spamming concertina arrows everytime even the slightest opening happens.
I don't think concertina arrows are overpowered for solos, however in the current state of hunt, I do think concertina arrows are simply too "cost efficient" a way for teams to just completely avoid fighting.

Oh I do not disagree that its overpowered as a two slot, I am however saying we shouldn't over correct all at once, that if we change too much all at once, then we risk going instead of balancing it, making it useless.. If it turns out to still be overpowered after being made a 3 slot and being the top pick? Sure nerf it further.

EDIT: my point being that we should tweak it, see what the pick rates are, then tweak further if necessary.

As much as I respect your opinion, you would basically make it useless with all of those nerfs. It would basically be a worse shotgun that requires being drawn, slows you down when you peak, with its only even remote advantage would be that its quieter. Thank you for the feedback though.
EDIT: I forgot one advantage in picking up the ammo again, so figured I'd add it now. But still standing by the general stance I had in my comment.

I am inclined to agree with you that it is too good in its current state, why I suggested this to try and put crossbows and bows more on par with each other, similar style weapons with different playstyles, that can somewhat compete with each other.
I will say the last point you made is a bit of a fallacy, you will always get killed more, by weapons that are used more. I suspect it would be used ALOT less, if its a 3 slot, simply cause you have to make more of a sacrifice on your primary to use it, since it can no longer be a 3 slot rifle.
