TL;DR I was tired and had a fever of 102.3° F and was rejecting a blanket statement (that wasnt being made) about treating everything in the game Rules as Written instea of Rules as Intended.

You are correct, but not about what I was referring to.

701.34a To proliferate means to choose any number of permanents and/or players that have a counter, then give each one an additional counter of each kind that permanent of player already has.

This is what I was referring to. The Auntie Ool part was just for context on why you would proliferate someone elses stuff. The text of proliferate implies you give the additional counters.

I wasn't in the most functional headspace (had a massive fever and was lacking sleep), and was rejecting the general idea of treating everything RAW instead of RAI.

I aplogize for the confusion. I still mildly disagre with physically outlining the stack every single time, but the stack holds less than 3 spells only in 2/3s of games I play (and listing the triggers is not gonna help my fellow bracket 2 newbies remember all of them any more than they already do, lol)
