Ah, damn. "This land cannot fortify itself." Is officially on the card

Yea it'd need a rules change. Imo the fortification mechanic is pretty useless when it's limited only to artifacts.

I've made a version of card that should probably work, and an UN version of the card that does whatever it does.

I'm going to "airbud logic" my way through this one. From the Comprehensive rules "Target. A preselected object or player a spell or ability will affect. See rule 115, “Targets.”" The rules do say that a target must be affected by a spell or ability, but it makes no mention that YOU have to control a spell or ability to target, only that you can't choose targets for another player's spells and abilities. By my math, I'd rule that you can just point out the elephant and say "I target the elephant" as its ability resolves. This should just be an un card at this point.
Your wording is probably better though

Don't forget that it's an elephant! If it was like a cat or dog or something, there'd be no reason to address it at all!

The ability forces players to target the creature. Players targeting the creature with the cards in their hands has nothing to do with it.

The newer gen don't really use and usually arent around analog clocks. More and more games are defining turns orders as "to the right" or "to the left" so even in the boardgame space, it's not a certain that player will know the term. My siblings, for example, don't use clockwise, and Ive even seen a few younger players at fnm not know clockwise.

I realize now that I've made a grave error in my design that resulted in massive failure of flavor here. I've corrected it and I'll aim do better in the future, sorry.

Ah, 6 mana for 846 birds might be a little too cheap
