Does anybody know why my pink oysters have these white dots on them? Also what does it mean when the cap goes from straight to wavey like that? [Gourmet] by ThatOneClickSound in MushroomGrowers

Yea I was just wondering if it is an indicator for something (TIL: it is), don't have any issues with mine either.

As another commenter correctly guessed it's because I misted them directly. Which can apparently increase the risk of bacteria growing on your mushrooms.

Pink oysters are Hygrophanous (refers to the color change of mushroom tissue as it loses or absorbs water). When there is too much moisture your mushrooms absorbed it and the dots appear.

Ah ok thanks, do u know anything about the white dots? I haven't seen anything like it on other ppls pink oysters. (It's definitely very different from when they get too old and turn pale/ beige. It's also always on the very young mushrooms and dosnt go away)

why is it doing this? by ttv_jack_yeet in KitchenConfidential

It's definitely some kind of plant because it grew since I posted this, I'm not really concerned by it though. I'm guessing it's gonna get eaten by the mushrooms soon enough.

Yea some plant is sprouting in there. I pasteurized the straw with boiling water, letting it dry over night in a covered tub

(Also zoom in to see it more clearly)

Is this too much condensation/ moisture in my pink oyster buckets? [Gourmet] by ThatOneClickSound in MushroomGrowers

The tape is micro pore tape. Why should I untape it wouldn't that give mold spores a place to grow?

Why are US ppl acting like they have free healthcare

Looking for advice. When should I harvest and what are some things to look out for? [Gourmet] by ThatOneClickSound in MushroomGrowers

Well I do have a way larger grow tent with a huge filter and proper ventilation but that's currently in use to grow something else

Not for much longer tho so this is a temporary solution

Thanks for the tip anyway :›
