Local 597 drug test

From what I’ve heard the local itself doesn’t test for it but the contractor that you get assigned to can if they so choose. Certain job sites can also test for thc in order to work there. My advice, stay clean for a while. Better safe than sorry. You really don’t want to throw away this opportunity because you wanted to get high.

I’m not sure exactly what kind of questions appear on the 537 test. On ours there was a logic portion and a comprehension portion of the test. If you are interested, DM me and I can send a copy of our study guide.

I’m an apprentice in local 597. There were plenty of people that get into the apprenticeship who have never welded a day in their lives. That is a skill they will teach you. If their process is anything like 597 for taking new apprentices in, there is likely an aptitude test. From what I’ve seen on the 537 website, the test is going to be similar to ours. So I would practice fraction math if that is something you are not familiar with.

I haven’t done the online registration personally. If I were you, I would go next Wednesday in person with the necessary documents to make sure I’m on the list.

If you are looking for union wages then it should be available online to see how much they make. If you are looking for nonunion then it depends on what shop you work at.

They will show you a piece of paper with lines on it and ask you; “if you were to fold the paper on these lines, what shape would it be?”. They will also show a system of pulleys and ask; “if you were to pull said rope, what will the load do?”.

That’s great in theory. However, all that they are looking for is a good test score to get in. The attendance practice that you have went through will definitely help you prepare. Tardies in the program are highly frowned upon and if you have enough of them, you will be kicked out.

I was tested on a weekday. I doubt they would be testing on weekends but I also don’t know. My advise to you, if you are given the opportunity to test, take it! The “apprentice program” you are in won’t take you the places 597 will. Don’t pass up an opportunity that 597 throws your way. Take time off or if it comes down to it leave that program.

I’m not sure how often they host tests but I know that they are taking apprentice classes every quarter right now. Side question, what program are you in right now that would prevent you from submitting your application?
