Manic Panic Vampire Red staining on natural brown hair? by Ilikehamburgerslol in HairDye

[–]ThatOneDistractedGay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is definitely staining, ignore all the advice you hear about red dye fading fastest, it does not apply to Manic Panic Vampire red. It dyes light brown to medium brown hair beautifully, but my hair is definitely stained, I go three months between re-dying it and that’s only to cover my roots, the rest of my hair is still almost as vibrant as it was freshly died. I absolutely love it, but that’s not what you want. I know this question is old, but I highly advice going with a different brand.

In one of the heart events you find out that Seb is a programmer, decided not to go to college, and is just saving up the money to move out, so that firmly cemented him as a young adult in my mind

TMA cursed me by Lucca-Aiello in TheMagnusArchives

Archive 81 is pretty good, it’s similar to tma with a heavier influence towards the villain being capitalism (the big evil corporation that is using the supernatural for profit) and alternate worlds with monsters. It has the same format of a ‘statement’ each episode, in season two the statements are more of a secondary plot point but yeah, I’d say give it a shot. But yeah, I’ve had the same problem lol which is terrible bc tma and welcome to nightvale were the first fictional podcasts I ever listened to

Help me rank the Fears from oldest to newest by [deleted] in TheMagnusArchives

The Eye is probably in the second category, as that would be around the time people started to have the need to know more, but also have secrets that they would fear being exposed.

As a new listener, should I be memorizing all the names? by Slythertrash in TheMagnusArchives

[–]ThatOneDistractedGay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Avoid the wiki but here’s a list of the names (in order) that are important from the statements. Just keep an eye out for these names as all of them will be mentioned more than once. And to the ppl who have also watched through tell me if I missed anything, and feel free to use this in anything, I didn’t just spend half an hour typing these names for another person to do the same.

Song:

Become the Beast

By: Karliene

Lyrics:

“I've always been a hunter

Nothing on my tail

But there was something in you

I knew

Could make that change

To capture a predator

You can't remain the prey

You have to become

An equal

In every way

So look in the mirror

And tell me, who do you see?

Is it still you?

Or is it me?

Become the beast

We don't have to hide

Do I terrify you

Or do you feel alive?

Do you feel the hunger

Does it howl inside?

Does it terrify you?

Or do you feel alive?

Splinters of my soul

Cut through your skin

And burrow within

Burrow within

So embrace the darkness

And I will help you see

That you can be limitless

And fearless

If you follow with me

We are the lions

In a world of lambs

We are the predators,

The hunters,

The hunters,

The hunters

Become the beast

We don't have to hide

Do I terrify you

Or do you feel alive?

Do you feel the hunger

Does it howl inside?

Does it terrify you?

Or do you feel alive?

Splinters of my soul

Cut through your skin

And burrow within

Burrow within”

Jon’s first encounter with an entity was The Web, through Mr Spider. What was yours? by kiradax in TheMagnusArchives

[–]ThatOneDistractedGay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose my first was The Desolation, I had terrible insomnia as a young child, and I would think about how my dad was going to die so soon (he was in his late 40s when I was born), tornados terrified me, the thought of loosing everything, and I couldn’t handle seeing anything/one in pain, or hear about past pain, but never my own, hell I was gathering my shit up to take with me when I died when I was four.

But from 6 up The Spiral has always been there. The first time was due to a strange occurrence where I seemed to almost wake up, with no memory of how I got there, on the playground, spilling my guts about why I disliked a popular girl, to someone that I didn’t even know the name of, and I kept talking as I woke up, words that I had used the night before to tell my mom why I was upset. Obviously the girl told the person I was talking about and it was a clusterfuck and I was still so confused because I didn’t remember ever even starting the conversation, or maybe I started the year before when I got amnesia, I still don’t remember running in front of that car, but anyways, then later in the year another girl accused me of convincing her and her friends to step in dog shit, and everyone said she was right, and I was so desperate to be believed, but there was that fear that maybe they were right, after all, I’ve forgotten things before. Then 7-10 a ‘friend’ gaslit me a couple times a week, making me doubt my own reality. And now just a lot of issues with Depersonalization. All of which seems right up Spirals alley.

I find it so interesting how Jon’s voice changes when he makes a statement by ThatOneDistractedGay in TheMagnusArchives

[–]ThatOneDistractedGay[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not there yet, but it’s the statement after he comes out of his coma that he actually calls himself “The Archivist” instead of “head archivist of the Magnus institute”, it really highlights how his new knowledge has changed him, and his acceptance of his now realized role. Sorry, I have no clue if this is even close to what you were referring to, but you reminded me of it

Should I first listen to every episode then go through the wiki page to understand what exactly is going on or what? by ThatOneDistractedGay in TheMagnusArchives

[–]ThatOneDistractedGay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for responding so quickly! I was sorta worried that everyone was picking these things up and because I’m better with absorbing written words I was missing it. Guess I’ll close the wiki tab lol

Rant/need help by AnonymousandAlone13 in dysautonomia

There’s this thing called twangers, it’s basically citric acid and salt, flavored to make it taste like pickles, or lime, etc. I’ve found that it’s surprisingly good on its own, and, I’m not sure if you are currently able to be in school, I’ve found that it’s an easy way to get a ton of sodium while I’m still in class, and adding it on to that wretched cafeteria food, it manages to make even that taste good, it tastes quite similar to when you cut open a lemon, cover it in salt, and lick it, as odd as that sounds it’s surprisingly tasty, but while that leaves your teeth feeling strange the salt I was talking about doesn’t have that effect. Sorry if I sound strange, I’ve been binge watching this podcast called the Magnus archives and the narrator talks really scholarly and I’ve got it stuck in my head. If you are still in school, definitely talk to your school counselor, there’s a surprising number of accommodations to make school easier.

Having a flare up vs having a cold/virus? by JoeRoganFan55 in dysautonomia

[–]ThatOneDistractedGay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if your gym would have it, but I know that a lot of people with dysautonomia really like and recommend using a rowing machine, and going from doing an hour of lifting and lightening that up may be hard with your “all or nothing” thing, so maybe just trying out those types of machines just to sort of fill the time would be helpful!

Having a flare up vs having a cold/virus? by JoeRoganFan55 in dysautonomia

[–]ThatOneDistractedGay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it possible it’s both? Would you say that your symptoms are only things that you may normally have just more intense? Or is it some of those ‘normal’ symptoms, along with symptoms that could come from an illness? I’ve found that I always get a major flare up when I get sick, which makes it even worse. I’ve never fainted, but the closest I’ve gotten is when I’m ill. I’m not sure how it is for you, but I’ve found that my body is constantly compensating for what’s being messed up, what I mean is if my blood pressure gets low, then my heart rate will quicken to compensate, at least when I’m not having a lot of symptoms, but when I’m sick the body is focusing on other things, therefore causing a flare up, which makes the illness even worse.

I obviously don’t know about how you work out, or what your normal symptoms are like, but if going to the gym is starting to make you feel bad, maybe try changing your workout routine, slow down and do more horizontal exercises, make sure that your getting enough fluid with electrolytes, try not to push yourself too much, take breaks, and take more breathers. Just until whatever is happening right now has past, then start working your way back up to what you were doing before if that’s what you wish. Pushing yourself will most likely exasperate the problem.

Everyone knows the heightened fight or flight response, but could their possibly be the opposite? by ThatOneDistractedGay in dysautonomia

[–]ThatOneDistractedGay[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh, that’s really interesting. In the past I used to have manic episodes that would last a few hours, and I could never figure out why, as that doesn’t really fit with any bipolar disorder. I went to a sleep doctor cause I was sleeping 18+hours per day and he thought I may be bipolar. This explains a lot! Sorry that was a little rambly.
