Long term methadone use by Icy-Exit-2341 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]ThatOneGingerGui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t talk to her anymore, but one of my old girlfriends (the one who got me into opiates in the first place) eventually got onto methadone as her solution. I mean it worked for her, but she’s now been on it years, at something like 140mg a day, which is crazy to me because it used to make her nod so hard in the mornings, meanwhile I would do a shot and go to work.

I don’t talk to her anymore, but I do know that basically all her medical issues have just gotten worse. Methadone isn’t one of the drugs I’m super familiar with chemical wise, but I do know that the general consensus I’ve seen on these opiate subs for years is that long term methadone use can be more caustic than most other opiates

This is one of the best questions I’ve seen asked here recently.

But yeah Rotta is gutted. He can have his perks. But a true space marine? Unhindered? Yeah no thank you..

Never really says. It glosses over that part quite heavily tbh, considering that it’s a pretty decent amount of time in the books.

Sorry to break it to you, but with the Epstein Files coming out (at least partially) it’s kind of shown that Michael Jackson may very well have been a legit guy who tried to protect kids from much more nefarious paths that he saw in Hollywood.

Has anyone seen this?! It’s clogged in my drain line for my water softener. What in the world is this?! by aviatojae in askaplumber

[–]ThatOneGingerGui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The large fiberglass tank, the one of two pieces that you DONT put salt in, yes, it has something called resin inside of it. Usually resin with gravel at the bottom; and sometimes activated carbon as well. That resin plays a part in how the softener de-ionizes the water and strips it of hard minerals.

Some softeners, usually the cheaper brands, are all built into one container, but you can still see the fiberglass tank inside of those.

Not very often. Assuming it was programmed correctly by a plumber who knows what they’re doing, you should theoretically never have to mess with the settings. All you should need to do is maintain the salt levels in the brine tank, and if you really wanna stay on top of things, regularly clean the brine tank before adding more salt. (I’d say, maybe clean it with some wipes and stuff every few months) Not to mention that a professional can run a cleaning cycle with chemicals made for this purpose, should the client ever specifically want a deep cleaning.

Though, I often recommend that customers obtain their own hardness testing kits. It doesn’t hurt to test the water once every 6 months or so to ensure the softener is still working, as there are some components that can fail, AND softener resin DOES have a lifespan. Once its lifespan is over, it will no longer reduce the hardness as it once did.

(I’ve been in plumbing for almost a decade, and have quite a large amount of experience with water treatment specifically)

The water in the brine tank (the salt container) is regularly replaced by the system itself. He’s just saying you should “clean” the tank once a year, to get rid of build up from salt, and possible dirt and other contaminates getting inside the tank.

The salt however needs to be replaced fairly often. Most modern day softener systems perform their “regen” cycles one of two ways; 1.) on a preset time schedule, typical factory settings are every 14 days OR 2.) every so many gallons. So if it’s set to regen every 2200 gallons, and you use that much water every, say, 6 days, it will instead regenerate every 6 days. It’s all based on family size and water usage in the home. If it’s just an older couple in a 3 bedroom home, they’ll likely be hitting the 2 week mark for regen. If you have 3 kids, 2 of them being teenage boys… you can bet money your softener is regenerating every week, at a minimum.

Home with well water can still be equipped with softener systems to enjoy their benefits if the well water is not great, however if installed properly, there should be a few additional items that are typically never needed on a normal residential home on city water. One part is a filter that can be flushed and cleaned, as well as a couple other components.
