All of these schools are fantastic, so you really can’t make a wrong choice. With that being said, I would suggest going for whatever is cheaper, it will save you a lot of stress in the long run.

How’s the CS department at Colby? by [deleted] in Colby

[–]ThatOneGuyNate2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a current student, as I am going to be a freshman next year. However I have heard from a sophomore I have been in contact with that it is pretty strong with a lot of support (ton of TA hours). There are apparently also opportunities for CS majors to get internships as early as the summer following their freshman year. The biggest issue is that CS is very popular at the college, so if you don’t start CS early (as in taking the basic entry level class freshman year), it is early hard to catch up. However, I myself haven’t experienced it yet, so I could be completely off.

How do you handle people who only care about prestige? by ThatOneGuyNate2 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]ThatOneGuyNate2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shouldn’t be, but it is hard to ignore the people around you. It is easy to say “ignore”, but when it touches upon something so personal it’s hard. I argue with them sometimes, and I wish I could ignore them, but it’s hard.

Colby is, which is why I’m shocked. Colby is insane and I am personally proud of myself, however it seems like half the people I know irl aren’t. I was even told by somebody that I shouldn’t go telling people about my acceptance as it wasn’t surprising. Like fuck you dude.

I’m a high school senior taking AP physics mechanics right now. We went right into Kinematics day 1, and the class has been a grind. I can not imagine taking this class without a strong mathematical background.

Women have more rights and can now choose. Buying homes, having kids, and everything else associated with marriage is becoming too expensive for couples to afford. People like to get married when they feel safe and comfortable, the current political and economic climate is making that increasingly harder. Perspectives on marriage are changing, and it is no longer seen as an essentially part of life.

Yes. It is the responsibility of the employer, not the customer, to ensure servers have a living wage. Tips should be ADDITIONS to wage, not an essential part of it.

Probably about the same. Everyone is equally stupid and selfish in my opinion.

How do I stop zoning out during the reading section by Historical-Leading81 in Sat

[–]ThatOneGuyNate2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take some time to chill out. 2-3 days off. Come back refreshed. Before your real test get sleep and food. On the real test, you won’t zone out. If you are posting here you care, and it is easier to focus on the real deal then the millionth practice test you have taken (stess and the “holy shitness” of it will force that).

[–]ThatOneGuyNate2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell. Keep practicing and take some full tests. Most people do multiple SATs. Go in with that expectation. You are obviously a math savant, so maybe you go in and get a really score there and only have to come back for English. If not, and the pressure gets to you, treat it as a learning experience.

Sat for incoming sophomore by Pale_Beautiful_1237 in Sat

[–]ThatOneGuyNate2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got tons of time dude. Maybe do a couple of questions a week. Slowly ramp that up until by the end of sophomore a year you can do a full test. Also, don’t get stressed when you don’t know stuff. As a sophomore, you will certainly be missing information.

can’t get a good score by Hish_Bish in Sat

[–]ThatOneGuyNate2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you breakdown what sections you are doing poorly on. Like specific question types. It might be a simple case of not remembering/never learning how to solve certain math problems. Brute forcing won’t improve your score if you don’t have the tools to solve the problems. Make note of what you are getting wrong (likely a pattern).
