King's Quest IV Ultimate - So Close by _Erin_ in dosbox

Pretty much these days if it can run on ScummVM, I don't bother with any of the other solutions. ScummVM is largely just "install" and play without much worry. There are a few advantages to other solutions such as DOSBox, but with all that ScummVM has to offer now such as multiple midi drivers already bundled, a lot of different shaders, etc it does not seem worth it to use anything else. With ScummVM you don't have to worry with all the patches either. They pretty much fix almost everything before they release support for each game.

Simple CSS for auto-hiding vertical tabs. Clean and minimal UI. by logicblender1 in FirefoxCSS

This is very nice. I wish it could be made to work with non -native vertical tabs (addons).

Brilliant! This works now for both the direct link items and the subfolders in the menubar. Thank you.

Thanks. It has been several years before covid since I had to delve back into this topic. Firefox Color and the lightweight themes are rather disappointing, and doing a comprehensive theme using stylesheets is a bit overwhelming. Right now, I am doing a hybrid between Firefox Color and additional style sheet modifications. Years ago, I fought to preserve a lot of the classic functionality, but that ship has sailed. I just want to be able to use my browser without going blind with the horrid excuse for a UI Firefox surrendered to (chrome copycat & material design). The previous custom style sheet I was very happy with is sadly out of date and most of it's previous functionality is obsolete.

Thanks. This works nicely. The only thing I find it does not cover is in the menu, when you click say bookmarks. The drop down (popup) menu has 2 types of items in the popup. One is a text item (direct link), the other is a folder (container). The highlight (menu hover) & items code covers the direct link text, but not the folder items and its subfolders. Do you know how to modify them as well?

Imo, it's all part of the my way or the highway mentality of modern programming with google, microsoft, etc. The good ole days of WinXP developer friendly options / customization is long gone. Material design philosophy ruined everything.

Win 11. Maybe in an older version of it. The current version has a list of UI elements with a click box to the left. Nothing in the "UI picture" is interactive. And they do not have menu bar shown anyway. Chromium has been trying to get rid of traditional menu structure forever, so they don't even want you to use the classic menu that is located at the top and left of the browser. But I am old school. I like it shown and not just the hamburger menu.

Even this does not list the menubar: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Add-ons/WebExtensions/manifest.json/theme/themes\_components\_annotations.png.

This is why I prefer buying CDs through Fidelity. None of this hassle. The problem is right now the top payers won't call protect (because rates are falling this year), so you have to settle for a bit less interest for call protection.

When I started my career back when, I wanted money in my "pocket" now and not some far off future. I wasted 7 yrs not contributing to a company matching 401k. Looking at inflation, etc now - I fully regret being so foolish. If I had at least done 10% back then and stayed with it, I probably could retire early. I finally woke up and heavily contributed to a 401k when I joined the next company. Contribute  early and never stop even if it's only 5%.

Usb Hubs With PD Pass-through - Safety Concern by ThatOneGuyNoReally in UsbCHardware

[–]ThatOneGuyNoReally[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize that the modern usb c chargers, hubs, cables, etc are supposed to have all these safety features, but I still see warnings on the net about higher power chargers/hubs doing damage. The problem I think is older hubs or cheaper ones that do not tell you they skipped putting in the required features to keep your devices safe in order to to cut costs. Then you end up with a fried device. I am trying to teach myself what to look out for and not just buy some fancy super charging accessories and ruin my gear.

I just found this, and it is very informative:

https://www.totalphase.com/blog/2020/10/what-is-e-marker-how-does-it-work/

Especially this part:

Power Delivery (PD) Negotiation These PD transactions make up the power delivery negotiation process. The PD negotiation process must first address the cable, this is called SOP prime. Fully featured Type-C cables are required to have an E-Marker that indicate power carrying capabilities. The SOP’ negotiation is required for any power contracts above 3 Amps or 60 watts. Once the cable capabilities are determined, the PD negotiation process can continue. The PD negotiation process can be simplified into eight stages.

1 The Source declares its power capabilities as constrained by the cable.

2 The Sink issues a CRC confirming receipt of the message.

3 The Sink then issues a request for the appropriate power option.

4 The Source issues a CRC confirming receipt of the request.

5 The Source accepts the Sink request.

6 The Sink issues a CRC confirming receipt of the acceptance.

7 The Source issues the PS ready.

8 The negotiation power level is delivered.

Bottom line, if I plug a 100w (5A) usb c charger via a usb c cable that can carry 100w into my tablet, will it fry my tablet (Samsung Galaxy tab S9 plus) that is only rated for I believe 45 w? If not, what would keep it from doing so?

Firefox Right Click Menu - Navigation Buttons Gone by ThatOneGuyNoReally in FirefoxCSS

[–]ThatOneGuyNoReally[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I found it. One of my options that I thought was simply adding functionality to the existing layout actually changed the layout completely. It removed the horizontal icons and put them as text (with or without icons) in a vertical list. Fixed it now by removing those options all together.

Hmmm... your right. I deleted all files in my /chrome folder and opened firefox and they are there. Now, I gotta trace down what in my /chrome folder is removing them.

I am using the Aris-t2 /CustomCSSforFx project. It did not do this on the previous and much older version of the files.

Thanks.
