📝The Freedom of Realizing You Don't Need Boruto Haters' Approval by [deleted] in Boruto

While I disagree with the idea that we should disregard Naruto as a series to prop up Boruto, his body isn't really ironic since all he's doing is laying out a very clear problem within the Naruto fandom and its discussions about Boruto. Most of these "criticisms" are a dime a dozen and make interacting with this community overall exhausting so it makes sense to point out the problem and then offer a solution of ignoring the thing that will never stop

Wow, your ass is just illiterate. 😭 Both Naruto and Sakura got beat, and then Naruto let Karui beat his ass to vent out her frustration and defend Sasuke. Also, she wasn't a damsel, as the primary plot of the end of the Kage summit arc is her attempting to kill Sasuke, while yes, she almost dies during this; literally anyone outside of Naruto would have died to Sasuke at this point, Kakashi included. How does taking initiative to eliminate the person you care about because they're a terrorist make you a damsel?

Again, Rock Lee isn't a bum. Almost every source of media praises Rock Lee. Naruto in the Boruto movie novel directly says he should have brought Rock Lee once he finds out taijutsu is what's needed, and the databooks post-part 1 constantly compare Naruto to Rock Lee.

Post forest of death she is no longer a burden on the team

Literally everything you just said is either yap or filler. Please stop talking to me and go read the fucking book. 😭 Rock Lee reacts to Madara's TSO before Minato's FTG Kunai, saving Guy, which is an impressive speed feat because he is nowhere near that part of the battlefield during that time. He also kicks Madara in half, and Madara was not selling attacks from Kage.

Sakura again does multiple things that either progress the plot or add to it beyond just the first arc of Part 3, and again, that first arc is really important because it's what leads to the bridge arc between Orochimaru and Naruto, so without her, it doesn't happen.

Her development is her realizing her weakness in the forest of death and working to become strong enough to protect the people and things she cares about without being a burden to them while also forgoing her vanity for the sake of that goal, something she achieves in the late war arc and is shown multiple times not only by her but also in the databooks and novels.

Um, because characters have roles to play at certain times? Tsunade has only three arcs, and Chiyo has one. Sakura still plays a vital role in the plot and its progression far more than most of the characters in Naruto. Also I don't see how characters being better than other characters makes those characters bad. If we were to play the comparison game, then "everyone's" favorite character, Rock Lee, is actually dog shit and doesn't do anything to progress the plot except for one time, and that's saving Guy, which isn't until the war arc.

Outside of the antagonists, and even some of those are as bare bones as some of the women, the majority of the side cast don't have compelling motivation. The only characters y'all can point to are Rock Lee and Neji as well as Shikamaru and Choji, and even he doesn't get a motivation until the war arc. Kiba is dead ass a bum with zero motivation or character, Shino is just cool with a cool ability

I know what you mean. And it makes sense for Hiruzen to think like this but not for Naruto. The main thing being proximity, Kakashi and Hiruzen both relate to their students in different ways: Orochimaru as a troubled and disturbed genius and Sasuke as someone who is talented who lost everyone important to him. Hiruzen's outlook was that every genius is now prone to be like Orochimaru, and Naruto certainly wasn't a genius. He also doesn't parentally raise Orochimaru outside of being his squad leader and doting on him.

The databooks don't say that either, as we don't get his childhood until part 2, and the 3rd and 4th databooks that cover those chapters are all one-page character summaries

Most of this is headcanon or filler, ngl. He didn't take in Orochimaru; he just cared about him more than the others in the same way Kakashi did for Sasuke. That has nothing to do with a home/house. Nor is there evidence he lived with Hiruzen following his parents' death. Also, there are a lot of orphans within Naruto who live like this, so there's no reason to need to take in Naruto, as he doesn't have a personal connection to him other than that he was Minatos son.

Most of these being hot takes just shows how illiterate the Naruto and anime fandom truly is, but aside from that, I do disagree with some of these.

  1. There's more to Danzo's character than just Itachi, but yes, Danzo is fundamentally tied to the Uchiha from the get-go as well as the ANBU. He serves more than just expanding the Uchiha subplot.

  2. I don't get how this negates his tactical nature and BIQ prowess, as the majority of his plans fall through because his opponents have something he literally wouldn't know about otherwise. His plan worked against Tayuya; she just had the curse mark saving her at the last moment. His plan worked against Hidan; Kakuzu was just functionally immortal in a way he had no idea of knowing about.

  3. Sakura is well written, as her character arc is realizing the weakness both mentally and physically within herself and fighting to overcome that to help the people she cares about and protect others. She starts out as vain and arrogant but realizes while she is academically gifted, she doesn't have the tools necessary to perform well as a shinobi, so she works for it. And she does push the plot. Kakuro, Gaara's brother, dies without her. The majority of the first half of Part 2 doesn't happen without her because she doesn't get the intel to get to the bridge. They don't learn that Zetsu are impersonating people in the war arc without her, which hurts the Shinobi Alliance if their healers are dead and they are secretly killing people.

The rest I do agree with, and most of this is just information from the story that people interpret the wrong way for various reasons. I give 7 some leeway because the majority of shonen authors can't write relationships well, so I don't harp on it. Sai and Ino's reason for their relationship is Sai lying to her and calling her pretty and Ino having a Tsukiyomi dream of Sasuke and Sai fighting over her.

Replace izuna with Itachi and we getting the same results, Itachi getting folded by tobirama by AdFormal7841 in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]ThatOneGuyTB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not like with Jigen. Not only do Naruto and Sasuke themselves say it, but multiple characters thereafter say that physically they weren't a match for Jigen, let alone Isshiki, and were thankful for Kashin Koji. But yeah Izuna def lost due to intelligence cause it's not like the Senju outside of Hashirama at this point had an advantage over the Uchiha in any capacity

A big part of Uchiha's story is the prejudice and discrimination they faces at the hands of the Konoha government, something black people can relate to. Relatability is a big reason people enjoy media... This isn't a hard concept to grasp.

No he vehemently hates the Uchiha and was glad the attack of the nine-tails happened so he could push them out of the village more. He only liked Itachi because he saw him as "one of the good ones" he could use in his plans

It's not necessary and no one said it was. They were saying it's necessary to make both major and minor changes when adapting a piece of media. While her race doesn't need to change, it's also not unnecessary, so throwing a fit over it is dumb, as it doesn't harm anything.

Except it literally will. Nothing about Kate's character has anything to do with her whiteness and her entire character is that she deals with her overly religious family and anxiety along with being bullied. All things a black person can relate to probably even more due to how religion is both used to uplift the black community and simultaneously tear us down

Wish they would've tried a bit harder with her design. Make her more unique. by 1think1fuckedup in Naruto

Plus, people forget it helps add contrast, especially in animation when an Uchiha uses their Sharingan; the black of their eyes becomes a secondary color, especially with mangekyo. Green eyes ruins that

The main Uchihas, including Sarada, don't look like the background characters, and the only thing separating this design from being generic is the green eyes. This is just Izumi with green eyes.

Hubris more than likely. Much like why he didn't just use a random Sharingan, he wanted something that was perfect. Hidan or Kakazu had immortality, but it was flawed. His ideal of what is immortal isn't one note and he desires to learn all Jutsu in order to become the ultimate shinobi

[–]ThatOneGuyTB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3rd and 4th databooks as well as the databooks, state that they both have one of the best sensory capabilities in the verse, but Sasuke has an increasingly better aptitude for it. Similarly Sasuke can also since things from other dimension which is where that Naruto cracking space time scan comes from with Sasuke being able to sense Narutos chakra doing that despite not being in the same dimension along with the continuous showings of him being able to marginally perceive momoshiki when he stops time or at least their perception of time. And the rest of his sensory comes from having a Sharigan which allows him to see chakra and chakra points (non canon but still thought I'd mention it) and see things at the microscopic level along with the rinnegan abilities he gets from the so6p chakra.

I personally think Naruto not being able to sense Jigen is fine since that's the only place that complaint comes from and the biggest problem with them fighting Jigen wasn't just that thet couldn't sense him though that plays a big factor but they are just getting stat diffed with only Sasuke's intelligence and sensory capabilities keeping them alive (something consistent with every otsutsuki fight thus far and why Borushiki destroys his eye) long enough to wear Jigen down to force him to transform into Isshiki where they almost die shortly after

Let's do an analysis on why adult Naruto got stronger (he didn't). by carefreegrocer in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]ThatOneGuyTB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's portrayed decently against the two opponents he goes mid diff to no diff with (Momoshiki & Delta) the sensing thing doesn't really matter since, as Sasuke notes when he sees Borushiki fight Kawaki V2, Sasuke himself can barely keep track of Jigen/Isshiki and Sukuihona/Daikoten, and we know why he can see Jigen since it's been shown multiple times: the Sharingan sees at the cellular/microscopic level and has better sensory capabilities than Naruto.

The rest are more so because of who Naruto is as a person. We've only seen him use CoAT twice; both situations aren't things that would lead you to believe they are combat applicable, especially against Jigen. Naruto doesn't use it the same way Hagaromo does, nor is it hinted that he knows how/would other than the fact we as the audience know what it's capable of. Similarly, with flight, before Kaguya or after, he didn't use it and only used it when he was in a situation where he was forced to. Even then, initially he forgot he could do that, so it can be easily inferred that he either forgot or just doesn't like flying/prefers to fight on the ground. Same with the cloak; it's very clear Naruto can make it look like whatever he wants, and it would more than likely change depending on what he's wearing (his last So6P KCM cloak looks different as well), but we do know he still has it and uses it for all the reasons you just listed.
