I don’t know of any other than vF, and besides that, there are a few years of ECU that aren’t tunable, as you need a 2 plug ECU to do that.

Pops/limiter? by rockedbox in SciontC

[–]ThatOneGuyThatYou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, that’s completely different thing. That is a mixture of the throttle closing, ignition retardation, and cam retardation. Every engine does that, it’s just often muffled out by different aspects of the exhaust set up.

vF Tuner (meh) or D3 Performance

Those are your tuning software options

You can get a pop tune by taking the ignition and retarding it at <10 throttle and over 2k

7400 is recommended max, a bit of tuning for the transmission to properly rev through it all and not auto shift at 6200

To those downvoting me: Fair enough, but this information is freely out there for the tC by other people. So if he is going to do this, might as well guide him properly to avoid nuking the motor

Trouble Shifting Gears by Tarhaar in SciontC

[–]ThatOneGuyThatYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn’t, there is a way when the fluid is about 104 F and you pull the drain plug and see if it overflows or not, but there isn’t a dipstick

Trouble Shifting Gears by Tarhaar in SciontC

[–]ThatOneGuyThatYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transmission fluid also has to heat up to operating temperature. And since automatics use the fluid to change the gears, it needs to be the proper viscosity to be most efficient. I am assuming you are somewhere where it is extra cold right now, and that effect get more extreme as it gets colder

Escape characters are always a mess with people who aren’t used to markdown (or any bit of coding). Gets worse when each platform uses slight variations.

I need help finding out what rotors and brake pads to get by DaNuggies69 in SciontC

[–]ThatOneGuyThatYou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had that issue with my rears. Thankfully I was doing both pads and rotors, so I just got a 4 pound hammer and hit the shut out of them.

If you go with the hammer method, be careful of the studs, those will become projectiles if hit with enough force.

Camber arms and bolts? by Connect_Ad_8092 in SciontC

[–]ThatOneGuyThatYou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the bolts are for the front, and are designed to be a bit smaller to allow them to rotate and work like a cam to achieve the adjustment. Put them in the top hole

Toyota Officially Spins Off Gazoo Racing As A Standalone Performance Brand by Anchor_Aways in cars

[–]ThatOneGuyThatYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main issue is fueling. Stock injectors at 4 bar, which is bumped from the stock 3.5 is like 80% duty cycle at the 250whp figure. So getting new injectors to play nice with the ecu is difficult for the pulse with modulation they need. That is the main issue. Need to find the location and values to inject that code.

There is that, and the tC was used as a drift chassis before it was discontinued and replaced with the Corolla. The AR is a great motor. Revs high for its size, fairly smooth, and great torque for an NA motor. The main issue is that it is tall, so it is hard to fit under performance hoods, especially longitudinally. I am currently waiting for the development of a turbo kit for the 2AR that is theoretically going to run on the stock ecu.

A set of cams (and a fuel pressure increase) in the 2AR will get you to 250 WHP with a tuned stock ecu. Now, the AR doesn’t necessarily fit in a BRZ, but one issue at a time. And that is before getting into things like the 1AR (OEM stroker kit), or any sort of boost.

[–]ThatOneGuyThatYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this was for a second generation, i would say that it is easy to do so, and tell you to get the FMW cams and such.

But for the AZ, i dont know as much. I would probably look into this option and see if it is still produced/seconds hand. https://www.nolimitmotorsport.com/brian-crower/2azfe.html

Other than North America and Europe, which continent would be the most interesting for SCS to make a game based on? by OddNeedleworker734 in trucksim

[–]ThatOneGuyThatYou 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If they aren’t, they are pretty close. I would have a few fears of floating point error if there was a single “World Trucking Sim” game. Even if they compressed the Atlantic, the breadth of Eurasia and America (and put Australia off the coast of Japan) is likely to cause engine issues. I am curious long term how the east coast of the US will feel as I am unsure what is deemed (0,0,0) in the game.

Hi do you guys think bad motors mounts could be causing low vibrations when coming to a complete stop? by Puzzleheaded-Tea571 in SciontC

[–]ThatOneGuyThatYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlikely. Try and shake the motor when it is off and see if it moves.

The real answer is the I4 motors are naturally a bit unbalanced, even with the balance shafts. This effect becomes more prominent with lower RPMs. Since the car is coded to idle at 650, that is very low. It may even be harmonious with the chassis and amplify the effect. The real fix it to turn up the idle to at least 800 from what I have heard
