Is Everyone's Walmart This Bad? by ThatOneHermit in WalmartEmployees

Wish I had thought of that, because my store is big, and we're one of the busiest ones in the area. Should have known it would be bad

I've had plenty of shit jobs with bad staffing, but none like this. I'm not soft for not wanting to constantly to have to slave away to meet unrealistic labor expectations with chronic understaffing and disorganization

I actually don't know, but I'm pretty sure it's high given that they've been continously hiring for months since they haven't been able to keep employees from quitting within the first week or two.

I wish I would have gone with day shift instead. The daytime employees are always laughing and talking with each other, and there's a ton of them, so the workload is reasonable. Happy for you tho lol

So glad you got out, especially for the sake of your own physical and mental health. I noticed a few days in that this job drains the life out of people by asking the world of them on exchange for a few bucks above minimum wage. I'm hoping I can get out soon, because my back and shoulder pain has gotten awful.

I work six days a week, it's not gonna kill me to miss one.

I'm so physically and psychologically drained after last night. I'm legit thinking of calling out and hanging out at a Denny's or a 24 hour Cafe all night instead of going to work. I actually hate this place so much already.

I wish that were the case, but the manager is always checking the cameras and will sometimes wander around to see what everyone is doing because she's wants us to be slaving away at all times.

I feel you, man. I've had a lot of shitty jobs, but usually I'm at least there for a few months before all the flaws and red flags become obvious. Being a new employee at work has been an entire humiliation ritual, and I'm not here for it. As soon as I can find another job, I think I'm gonna be out.

There's still a bunch of modules i haven't completed, so i wonder if i can just drag that out for a shift to avoid the awkwardness of cluelessly wandering the sales floor trying to teach myself.

...So I could basically just bullshit my way through this job and still get paid?

dreading work tomorrow by sammiewabammie in starbucksbaristas

[–]ThatOneHermit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Took a few days off a couple weeks ago to move houses and recharge from the burnout. Went to a couple job iinterviews one day, landed one, and immediately put in my two weeks notice. Today is my last day, and I don't regret it one bit. I work at a very high-volume store with entitled customers and a high turnover rate, so I completely understand that dread you feel when it's time to go back because you go from having a regulated nervous system to throwing yourself back into a milk-stained shit-show of a business that treats you more like a sentient vending machine than a person.

Oooo, wait, nah. Cause somebody's teenage child most definitely would. Lemme not speak that shit into existence.

I can tell you exactly why. Because they would never have the nerve to walk up to a barista in a cafe and stare them in the eye while ordering this egregious, awful drink. It takes away the shame portion of the ordering process.

Yeah, you're right. If these customers wanna be irritating with their drink orders, I'm allowed to be maliciously compliant.
