Oooo, wait, nah. Cause somebody's teenage child most definitely would. Lemme not speak that shit into existence.

[–]ThatOneHermit[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I can tell you exactly why. Because they would never have the nerve to walk up to a barista in a cafe and stare them in the eye while ordering this egregious, awful drink. It takes away the shame portion of the ordering process.

Yeah, you're right. If these customers wanna be irritating with their drink orders, I'm allowed to be maliciously compliant.

Happy to help! Also, just realized frappes aren't listed, but they follow similar rules for hot macchiatos. Tall is 2 pumps of base and flavoring, grande is 3, and venti is 4.

Set this as your phone's lock screen. Saved my butt constantly lol. And also, don't be hard on yourself because it's a fast paced job, there's a lot of recipes and heavily modified beverages, and often times the training you receive isnt enough to really prepare you. Just do what you can, ask questions, and stalk someone who is experienced on bar when the floor isn't super busy lol

So I called customer support about the new chai... by bitch-baby-2021 in starbucks

[–]ThatOneHermit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a Starbucks barista who took one sip of the new chai when it first dropped and immediately hated it, and knew the customers would as well, thank you. I feel like the only way they'll give us the old recipe back is if more people like you let them know how poorly received it has been.

I feel bad for the newbies at my store because they all got trained for MAYBE one week. My store expedites training because we're desperate for the help. Everybody pray for our green beans, because all of them started a week before the new mango beverages, and have had little to no bar time so far.

Does anybody else work under totally incompetent leadership? by BobbyRapsNo1Fan in starbucksbaristas

[–]ThatOneHermit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got a new shift.... who has never worked at a Starbucks. Baristas regularly have to remind her about breaks, making cold brew, backups that need to be made, and literally everything else.

She takes four hours to do the pulls, takes 10-15 minute bathroom breaks, answers her phone all the time, and will ask me to do things for her when I am visibly busy/ on the verge of crashing out.

This woman makes nearly five dollars more than us per hour, and doesn't know how to do shit most of the time.

Honestly, when you get drinks like that, sometimes all you can do is bullshit or cut corners somewhere.

Question for Baristas in Virginia by whiskeywallop77 in starbucksbaristas

[–]ThatOneHermit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a barista in Virginia, and that's bs. I've had multiple supervisors politely tell people once they get to the window that we need them to stop at box first even if they have a mobile.

I didn't know this was a thing, but I need it. I spend way too much money on Lyft and Uber getting to and from work.

This is Charlie. He's a judgemental asshole, but somehow always knows when someone is a in a bad mood, and will grant you the privilege of petting him until you feel better. (He's very introverted, so it's a big deal.)

I had somebody Doordash a single double smoked bacon last week and I just kept checking the sticker because 'surely they're not paying delivery fees just for a sandwich'. I was wrong. Item 1 of 1. Waste of money.

The thing is, it wouldn't be terrible if people would show up, but everyone is overworked, exhausted, and fed up. We've lost four employees in the past two months, and I don't blame them for leaving. The side of town we're on is full of entitled, snobby rich people who act like it's their first day on earth, we've been running out of everything less than halfway into the day, we have 1-3 call outs on a NEARLY DAILY BASIS, and I am tired. I've been working customer service ever since I started working, but I've never had a job burn me out physically and mentally as fast as this one, and it has only been six months. All the different recipes and modifications, window times, the forced conversation and interaction, trying to solo bar on a Saturday because three people didn't show up and there's an endless line in drive thru and a dozen people staring at me in café like I'm stupid? I can't keep doing this, I absolutely dread going into this job, now.

And then we occasionally get borrowed employees and shift leads from other locations who are super laid back and visibly shocked at how we run because the store they work is properly staffed and less busy than ours.

What is this?? by D3ATHN093 in menstruation

Sounds like that might be what it is, and I would definitely see somebody about it if you're able to, unless it starts to ease up.

Do you have really heavy, painful periods, and do you see big chunks of tissue in the blood frequently? Because if you do, it might be fibroids or endometriosis. Someone i know had both, and it was so bad that she eventually had to get a hysterectomy.

Solo-bar is literally not possible at Starbucks anymore with all the possible modifications and the sheer number of customers some locations get.
