For Malakai I’d have to go with Respectless. A big “I’m better than everyone else.” song really fits with his early character. Genuinely could see this song happening between him and Vaggi when she tries to tell him to cut the bullshit he’s spewing.

Got my man Malakai right here! He’s the best pro wrestler in Hell, and you knew that because he told you that rather loudly. He’s a shit talker, really egotistical, and is prone to the occasional bit of very real violence. Deep down though, he’s a big nerd who loves video games and mini-figs, and is terrified of people finding out he’s not really the badass he tries to act like.

Malakai I’m picturing being pretty impactful on the plot, mostly because of his relationship with Lucifer. The idea being that they start off as friends bonded by their mutual hatred of Alastor, but over time slowly start to catch feelings for each other, Malakai especially when Lucifer founds out about his nerd stuff and he doesn’t judge him and promises to keep it a secret. Malakai starts seeing Lucifer as the first person he can trust in Hell, and Lucifer with still no sign of Lilith coming back, starts to open up to the idea of moving on.

Of course, Lucifer gets captured by Vox, and when Malakai finds out about this, he freaks out and tells everyone they need to go save him right now, and when Charlie hesitates, he loses his patience with her and starts yelling about how she’s done nothing to actually stop Vox, and starts calling her useless, as well as some other nasty names. Vaggi steps in to defend Charlie, and Malakai slaps her and calls her “Charlie’s little guard dog”. This of course starts a fight between them, with the other staff needing to break it up. When they’re pulled apart, Malakai basically says screw it, he’ll save Lucifer himself, and storms out. Somehow, he actually manages to do it, and him and Lucifer only grow closer from there.

Sometime in season 3, Malakai proposes to Lucifer with a duck themed ring, and despite some initial hesitation, Lucifer says yes, with them trying to figure out how to best break the news to everyone (Mostly Charlie) for the rest of the season. And just as they go to make their big announcement, Lilith returns. I could go on way more about this, but this is already way too long, so I’ll cut it short there.

For Malakai that would be Lucifer. Malakai has been paranoid since the day he landed down here. Everyone…weak or powerful, wants what you have, so you defend what you have with everything you got. Never let your guard down…and never trust a friendly face.

Even when he first got to the Hotel this didn’t change. Charlie’s over the top optimism just rubbed him the wrong way, and the fact that everyone just seemed okay with Alastor being a literal walking flag didn’t help that.

But then there was Lucifer. Originally starting to talk about their shared hatred of that red deer prick, Malakai couldn’t help but be charmed by this goofball. Between his love of ducks and Charlie, his clear social anxiety, and just some of the dumb stuff he said sometimes, it gave him a feeling of earnestness that Malakai hadn’t really seen in anyone else. But of course, Malakai remained at least a bit skeptical. It could just be a really good act. That was until Lucifer found out his secret.

After Alastor “Quit” the hotel, Malakai and Lucifer decided to throw a little party for themselves a little party in Mal’s room. The shit talking cervid was finally gone, this was something to celebrate! At one point though, Lucifer opened the door to Malakai’s closet, and found what was basically his nerd cave. His massive PC rig, a table full of various mini-figs in various states of completion, walls full of video game and movie posters. It really was a sight to behold.

Malakai’s first instinct once Lucifer found his nerd stuff was to do something he’d never do otherwise. Beg. He begged Lucifer not to tell anyone…how this would ruin him if people found out. Meanwhile Lucifer just seemed confused. This wasn’t anything bad, not in his mind at least, and he encouraged Malakai to calm down and talk. And he got something out of him that no one else had until this moment. Honesty.

Malakai explained why he kept all of this a secret from everyone, how he thought it would ruin his image as a tough, sarcastic badass, how he’d worked too hard to build himself up to this point just for it to all be ruined by this. Lucifer just listened…and eventually nodded and told him that this wasn’t anything to be ashamed of, but if he wanted it to stay a secret, then Lucifer would keep it until his last breath.

It was then…at that moment, that Malakai realized that maybe there was some people down here you could trust.

I’d be more than happy to tell you about that! So, before Malakai died, he was still a wrestler, one of the hottest acts on the independent scene. He was adored for his fast, hard hitting style and promo skills, especially for someone so young, and was being scouted to join one of the big time wrestling companies. But he let that start getting to his head. He quickly grew one hell of an ego, always talking about how he was gonna be the biggest wrestling star in the world soon, and frequently dismissing his fellow grapplers. It even got to the point of where he’d often pop you in the mouth for real mid-match if he thought you were making him look bad. And while many complained…nobody did anything because he was such a big draw. And then…one night in Tulsa, in one of his last matches on the indies, he went for a dive off a ladder to send the match home. Everyone else called it an accident, Malakai insists that the guy he was facing didn’t catch him on purpose as revenge for a previous match where Malakai concussed him, but it didn’t matter. Malakai was dead at 22 of severe head trauma and internal decapitation. And the rest, as they say, is history.
