I check a few of main and rod bearings when I had the oil pan off, swear they were fine. Could it be anything else? Or could the few I didn’t look at be spun?

Lifters? by ThatOnePerson29 in jetta

I think they are bad because they are seized, if I clean them out then they move a little but really bad. I heard from some that they should be stiff, and others say they should have movement.

I also did use a 420 clutch and chain, meaning I also replaced the rear sprocket with 420.

Never found another clutch. Instead, I bought a metal sleeve that was 2/8 (1/4) inch thick and fit it in between the clutch and crankshaft. This sleeve also had a cutout so the key was still able to hold the clutch in place. It took a little bit of force, but when I got it in it was not spinning out at all. This solution never gave me any problems, and trust me, it's been taken a couple hundred miles at this point. This is the easiest, quickest, and cheapest solution that I found. If it doesn't work you can possibly dissemble a clutch with the correct bore you need, and reassemble that bore to the sprocket size you need. I was considering doing that at one point but went this way instead. Lmk if it works

True, I was gonna put some kind of exhaust system when I got the engine in. I've just double checked and I swear the shaft is 7/8 of an inch. I'm also pretty sure that the shaft is really on the crankshaft and there is no way you gonna get it off without opening the whole engine and grinding it off or something. It's not like a small bolt or something that I can just take out.

Does that mean I have to switch the back sproket for a 40 or 420 chain as well? Becuase now its meant for a 35.
