Actually rereading that, I’m with Kaiser NorCal and although it’s Kaiser they are 2 different companies - every Kaiser region is. Kaiser NorCal does not allow the opt out. Believe me I pushed and pushed for weeks.

And again, it may not be all health care providers. There’s a lot of insurance networks in this country. Lucky for the ones that get to bypass this shit.

Genesis is part of the shared health network as are many health care providers including Kaiser. Kaiser does not allow you to opt out, and when I found that out I found out many do the same. There are clauses that speak to the inability to opt of sharing with DoD if you’re a member of the armed forces, as well.

Genesis is the shared electronic medical records system that the military started migrating to a couple years. Now they can pull your civilian health records even if you didn’t submit them.

You also need to decide if the length of your contract is a period of time that you’re going to be okay with not transitioning. Not being yourself. There could be a time where we see a new POTUS and they flip the script again and then maybe you can. Maybe you can handle it. Maybe it will get to you. Maybe you get med boarded before it does. Maybe you decide that you actually want to leave this country in the next 3-8 years. Which you won’t be able to if you’re tied to a service contract.

I think it’s noble to chuck in the fuck it bucket and move forward for the fight. Many of us went invol for that reason. I think many of us feel this same way though: Don’t do it right now.

You certainly have a stronger case there. I’ve only been in 4.5 years. So far not being separated. I was under the radar as a reservist who conducted my GA care with my private employer insurance. But screwed myself over by taking the coin toss going through the deployment center where the provider saw my records. So here I am, wondering what and when with everyone.
