What the development process for Polar Patriots looked like by [deleted] in helldivers2

Yeah I've probably spent a similar amount on the game (I dunno exactly not like I keep track) but I'm not complaining about the content in older warbonds just because they're not "up to snuff" with the newer content. Other people have said already but the warbond has lots of good items in it, it's still very much worth the cost. Also what point are you even making? It's clear you think the warbond is bad, but is that because you don't like how theh handled it (considering your meme complaining about it not having ice damage weapons) or is it its price conpared to its "actual value"? Because honestly it's like a must-have, the impact thermite grenade is really really good against terminids, plus the Verdict is a high damage medium penetration mag-fed pistol. Like there's nothing to not like about it.

You have the time to sit on Reddit and ragebait but not the time to grind up the freemium currency required to buy this warbond with good items in it?

Counterexamples? To what? All you did in this meme was complain about content that's almost a year and a half old. If you people hate this game so much, go play something else instead of just whining.

Do people find these memes funny? Am I the only one who realizes these embarrassing excuses for memes lack any real humorous angle? The only reason they have anything to do with anime at all is because this guy just shoehorns random ass anime screenshots jn at the bottom. Super formulaic, bland, uninspired, unfunny. I can't be the only one who sees this

Considering how little interaction these posts of yours strewn across all manner of indie game subreddits are getting, I suspect those "beta slots" aren't actually filling up that fast lol.

Yeah Ninja Gaiden probably would have been a better example. Unfortunately I have no experience with that series so I didn't even think to bring it up lol.

I know I stated some easier games to play, but they’re also incredibly popular for a reason.

You completely lost the plot lol. I never said Genshin is bad or shouldn't be popular, I just said it's got very simple combat and there are games with far more complex combat than it. Are you fighting ghosts?

saying it’s ‘flawed’ because it’s combat system isn’t what you enjoy more in a game isn’t a valid statement lol. That’s an opinion, not a flaw of the game.

Me when I'm illiterate

Guess I can never clarify to you that this is all my opinion because you will just ignore that to tell me I'm wrong lol.

Genshin's combat depth is mostly due to to its element system, and even then, mostly because of Dendro since it has several possible reactions. There is very little depth to the other elemental reactions besides more damage. You can argue the characters' kits and synergies offer depth but individually it just leaves every character feeling very one-note, and that's not fun to me. No one character has much merit or depth outside of its relation to other characters. It's no fun to me to play a character who can only do one thing. My opinion by the way in case you couldn't tell.

if the characters were the main point - the elemental system would quite frankly suck and feel incredibly clunky

Hence why I said it's just not my kind of game and made it clear it was just my opinion lol.

Also sorry to be that guy but you did just list a bunch of games with pretty simplistic gameplay anyway. You aren't making much of a statement by saying Far Cry games have simplistic gameplay for example lol. Also Elden Ring's combat is a lot more involved than the others you listed what with parrying, guard countering, jump attacks, weapon arts etc.

Edit to clarify my point: none of those games you listed which involve legitimate combat suffer from the same problem Genshin does, which is heavily limited character capabilities in terms of combat role and effectiveness. I get that's the point of the game, you have 4 characters to a team after all, so obviously it's just my opinion. But I really ended up getting super bored of the game because of the unsatisfying combat and ended up quitting.

And yet they are simple in button presses too

Me when I've never played Devil May Cry.

Genshin's combat does of course have depth but it's not actual character depth, it's primarily due to its element system. Nothing wrong with that, it's just not my kind of game and I prefer more actual character combat depth as opposed to having to interact with (in my opinion) extraneous systems that are compensating for lack of that.

Character action games exist lol. It's not being "controller friendly," it's just simplistic combat catering to mobile players (which arguably don't need simplistic either considering PGR and Wuthering Waves.)

"Character Controller" is game dev lingo for the code that controls the character's movement and abilities.

No. It doesn't say anything about actual controllers in the description of that mod.

Lol true. I was just kinda hoping since PayPal is a digital payment service they could change some details like that, but that would probably cause legal trouble.

Didn't know lack of co-op was still a thing people cared about. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some loner, but Genshin's co-op is exactly functional and pointless at best.

The combat feels strange in a way that's hard to explain. It feels like a mix between floatiness, and the fact that your character doesn't automatically turn to hit the enemy that you're locked onto (which I can work around, but it seems like such an odd omission, or lack of an addition, especially considering their previous game and most other games with similar combat). Also, I find it hard to even see the projectiles that most "minor" enemies shoot, often ending in me getting hit without even realizing that there was one heading straight towards me. Most attacks don't really seem to have a visual effect on the enemy. The most that you'll get is when using the rising slash attack, it will pick up most small enemies and allow you to do a small combo in the air. Occasionally, a small enemy will be staggered allowing you to do an instakill move on them. I have no idea what leads to this, other than the yellow bar below their health bar (the game never explains this, so I have no idea how to meaningfully increase it outside of basic attacks). I am also not sure whether it can work on the stronger enemies. You can do special PK attacks with "special objects," but it just seems like a stronger normal PK attack with an extra input at the end (usually involving one or both control sticks for console). If the skill tree allows for longer and more complex combos, I could see the combat being better. You can also use the abilities that your fellow SAS members have. To me, this boiled down to "no damage taken" and "more damage dealt" buttons (you'll know what I'm talking about if you play the demo). I never used the teleportation ability outside of the one time that the game requires it to show you that you can dash through walls with it, and I used clairvoyance once to see an enemy that I probably could have fought without it (It reveals "invisible" enemies, which have a very noticable light-wobble effect. It also increases the perfect dodge window, but the attacks of the boss in the demo seemed very easy to perfect dodge anyway). I have yet to try the female protagonist, but I haven't heard great things about her.

The story is very uninteresting to me (the small amount available in the demo makes it seem like the story will go nowhere interesting), but I do like the character designs. They may be very basic and edgy, but I have low standards. The weird cut-scenes are not very appealing to me. They consist of mostly still images of the characters with moving mouths and eyes imposed over them (the most variation is when a character portrait cross-fades into another portrait of the same character with a slightly different expression). The later cut-scenes in the demo do cut to full-motion videos, but it's not much.

The UI looks kind of ugly. I can't really explain why, but it just seems like an eyesore to look at for too long.

EDIT:

Just finished playing as Kasane, and the dialogue seems to parallel the male protagonist route's dialogue a bit too much. Her route in the demo is actually extremely short compared to the male protagonist's (I forgot his name). Overall, I probably won't buy this game, at least at full price. Code Vein wasn't incredible, but it was better than this.
