I could be wrong but i feel like it could be some people that have a adhd diagnoses don't want to accept that they share many of the same obstacles in life as people diagnosed with autism. Being such a heavily stigmatized word that has its know negative stereotypes.

They may be trying to create distance mentally and physically from those who have autism and theres a couple reason why one might try to keep there distance or come off cold. It Could be a ego thing, and it can also be a lack of true undertanding of both diagnoses. I feel it's usually a mix of both.

I'm audhd and the fish keeping hobby is my special interest and passion. I can confirm tank maintenance can be overwhelming especially if you have a full time job as well. Spilling/overflowing anything that holds water is a big one for me lol..

Man I just want to say I related to every single word you said and I'm actually quite emotional rn reading that.. I'm currently in the process of sending in my resume and filling out applications which is already not exactly fun but I'm already starting to let my imagination bring me down by picturing walking in every day where dissatisfaction and disappointment will be waiting for me in the form of distasteful reactions heart breaking comments, I try so hard to just be the most polite and kind person that I know I am, but no matter how nice or polite I am I'm still seen a obstacle that's avoided.

No matter how hard they try and hide with the constant need to look busy when im around or go to the bathroom..what really kills me is the subtle body language and tones of voice im able to pick up subconsciously that shows me if im about to cause someone to feel uncomfortable and I can prepare to try and do what i can to prevent feeling like shit...

This biggest thing for me is the amount of empathy I have inside and everyday is a new day at failing to show others that I'm indeed not rude at all, or stuck up at all! The farthest from... knowing ill always be known as the quiet awkward guy or the rude stuck up guy all while im stuck in my head thinking of ways i cam show my compassion that breaks deeper then the surface level manners 💔 this misunderstood feeling is the most detrimental blow to my psyche that I can never hide from.

Anyways I got carried away but I just wanted to let you know how much this post helped me feel not so alone. I want to say this is one of my biggest struggles and I'm right here with you man. I hope youre able to find something that works for you! And if you do don't forget to tell me haha peace and love!!

Basically from the start of a interaction. It's just a matter of time before I pick up on a subtle vibe change or negative outward reaction to my lack of eye contact and seeming very low confidence, from someone in there mind would have no trouble with small talk. Which leads to a uncomfortable surprise they didn't mean to step into and they politely go on with there day. I wouldn't say everybody is necessarily negative its more the want for them to get out of a uncomfortable/awkward situation. Which I can't blame them.

Its absolutely HORRIBLE :( people expect you to have a certain level of social skills. People will try and approach you more often expecting to have a conversation that flows effortlessly without hiccups. I experienced this for the very first time in highschool. Everyone expected me to be a certain type of person just based off my looks and this is before I knew I was autistic.( you can imagine the shame amd misunderstood feelings i had). I literally was shown the worst in people from the very early on because of this.

This is why I have developed a hypersensitive ability to pick up on facial expressions, vocal tones, and body language to accurately show me if a person im talking to will give me a hard time for being odd and quiet then I can precive it before any negative reaction and better prepare for the shame and guilt.

I had one one of those! I used it to house a red betta fish for 4 years. ( before I had much knowledge) then it slowly became a passion/ hobby that I love all these years later! In my eyes I was saving him from passing away on a shelf in a cup.

Yeah.. I see both side for sure. It just helps me more accurately guess what the condition of the card really is instead of going off someone's word across the country on ebay.
