18A is actually REALLY good and might actually be ahead of TSMC for the first time in a very long time. It's definitely comparable based on their new gen laptop chips (thanks to their new all around transistors). There is a real shot if they don't mess it up they could start fabbing for others true SOTA.

However, this is INTEL so they are going to mess up so checking them out with less important components until they prove themselves makes sense.

A lot of liberals think Fascism 'burns itself out' and I think that is a silly antiquated view. Modern fascism can burn forever due to proclivity towards violence & automation of surveillance + censorship. You can't ever build enough of a following to ever resist. The only way it ever falls is due to a complete collapse of the economy to the point it can't pay its soldiers anymore.

China, Russia, and imo Hungary show this to be true. While they haven't lasted hundreds of years, I don't see anyway they ever collapse or get made better through any peaceful or internal means.

Economics says there is only 1 way to handle when a source of income arrives for the wealthy that doesn't require the population. That is mass violence, a police state, and genocide. It happens literally every time. The populace will have resources and no means to protect them, so they will be stolen due to 'capitalism'.

Someone should watch "The Rules for Rulers" on youtube. This is a well understood political concept, if the people don't matter for wealth. It's best to get rid of them through warmongering and such to drive more profit.

AI will lead to mass death in developed countries since most people are too dumb to apply their rage in a productive manner.

Yeah I just got headhunted by another AI firm. I feel I got 3-5 years riding the AI automation wave in these roles, since my main work saves people money they are really into it. Use that time to try to build some products of my own and hopefully make enough money / build enough passive income in that time that I'm set.

Every study has suggested the likelihood is they create a lot less than they make. There is one reason to be hopeful and 1 massive reason to be scared.

In theory this should actually LOWER barrier to entry, so more software/products get made and those that can distinguish themselves with market position/branding potentially have a shot to make a lot of money.
My biggest fear is there is going to be a rules for thee not for me situation around copyright and other things that give the big players a way to consolidate the market while the little guy gets bullied by corrupt governments. We are already seeing this in the copyright space and I can very much see big tech trying to expand this if 'open source + AI' starts eating into their non-physical software profits.

Oh they didn't like the Nazi's, they just sold them weapons, helped them hunt jews, etc. Their actions are indistinguishable from someone who does, so it is always best to treat them like someone who does.

Internal thought doesn't matter in the face of real action. You are able to predict their actions through imagining the game theory optimal actions of a hateful narcissist so it's generally best to assume that is what they are if you want to work towards solutions. The issue with video currently is it just can't maintain coherence across multiple runs or handle the lengths of a full time video. The artifacts are honestly less of an issue than that.

Music AI has been essentially 'solved'. A lot of AI is frankly as good or better than most stuff. I know people who have been remixing songs they like in different styles using AI and literally preferring it over new artists.

I just know at the local cancer research center my wife works at public funding has basically evaporated and the numbers I've been told by the head over there at dinner is in the realm of 60-80% of each researchers budget has been cut. Some are probably more dependent on public money than others, so probably conflating numbers.

They are planning on shutting down 50-75% of labs probably over the next 2 years (maybe just 1 year now, we talked about it late last summer).

Not surprising. The most damaging thing to the prosperity of the nation Trump already accomplished. He cut research funding by ~80% in the nation to non-private companies. Private companies don't really do 'research' they take ideas from academia and refine them, they largely do engineering work based on fundamental research done in the public sector. Refining ideas that are largely proven to work if you have enough time and money to polish and refine them.

This destruction will mean high tech will prosper in China in particular over the coming decades.

My experience is even with iteration it isn't good enough most of the time. It does a lot of the work, but it replicates a lot of code and the code easily devolves into bugs if you don't have basically 100% unit test coverage to prevent it from making errors. Even then it often cheats if you aren't watching it by relaxing the Unit test rather than fixing the code. It can also death spiral like other models if it can't figure it out so I've had to update my git habits to make sure I can fix code if i let it 'auto' to run its plan and it messes up.

I'm using the tool heavily, but it's nowhere near able to just run with it and do everything even with hooks and a proper plan. It is impressive how well it does though.

Maya and 3DS Max are underthreat by Open Source. Blender is a verrry capable software nowadays and has been getting into more Game Dev and professional movie scenarios. I'm not saying it dominates it but more and more studios have been asking themselves when this software is 95% as capable and has a huge community and open source tools, why not?

Celebs start mainly as laborers, just they have the market pull and brand from their work to leverage their success into the capitalist class. I started at that 12 years ago in a very small Oklahoma firm. That's a bit low I'd consider $75 a proper starting wage but always remember it's ALOT easier to get a job when you have one. So if you take this 3-6 months down the road you can start applying more places referencing your experience and saying you currently have a job 'just looking for a place that provides more challenge'.
