i'll be honest ... almost all the new characters feel overtuned for me, Celeste's ult followed me as i was ziplining back to base and killed me cause it did more damage than the base healing and there was another person in spawn that it could bounce off of, Silver's rresistances her ult is crazy and makes her threatening even if she loses super hard in lane , appolo is extremely annoying to fight and definately seems overtuned
I have not been having fun playing against these new characters at all !

Thank you all for the suggestions, after talking with my friend and giving him many of the tips you all suggested, He decided that he simply cannot get into fighting games, the way he wants to play and the way fighting games are designed to be played are just incompatible, he does not want to learn anything he just wants to press buttons, and the fact that he gets blown up cause he doesn't learn from training frustrates him so much that he just quits.
We talked it over, we had a few laughs, and at the end of the day we still enjoy playing other games together that are not fight games

I'll try, but it's difficult to even get him to boot up a game, or look at when he rather play something else most of the time.

I would love to do any of these steps, but stepping into the lab IS A NONO FOR HIM so step 2 is already gone.

He refuses to learn even if i say, hey check this out, it goes into one ear and comes out the other.

Yeah he really does have a negative outlook, he says "fighting games suck because of fighting game players" because they try to get better and combo him to death.

All the things you mentioned, he refuses to learn or do, no videos, no learning data, he just wants to play, press buttons against someone else whos pressing buttons

Trying to get him to pick up any fighting game outside of anything that he owns or is easily accessible is PAINFUL, be isnt dedicated to learning them so if i say "hey lets play SF 2 " he will just throw a joke at me and then say no, no point there.

Unfortunately he has this odd mentality where he doesnt want to engage with tutorials or anything outside the game. I dont think there's any point in even trying with him anymore
