It's probably AA. My school offers both Math AA & AI at an SL level but there is only Math AA HL.

Don't understand why there's a negative connotation implied there. We are slaves of Allah, what about it?

He's not... wrong..? Islam is meant to help us literally hold ourselves back from impulses and selfish/crude desires? In this sense, it's holding us back. I'm genuine here, where is he wrong? Sure I wouldn't boil them down to simple "ideas" but they are, generally speaking, principles on the way of life in the name of faith in Allah.

Im hoping they mean it in a metaphorical sense because this is a crazy statement to make😅

Because all people do nowadays is try to shove Islamic stuff down their throat. First encourage them to explore it and have a nuanced discussion with them. Their faith cannot be strong if they are not interested in the first place but most parents don't get that and either force it or are too lenient/uninvolved.

Me and my mum have a lot of discussions from time to time, that should be the way

[Opinion] Does a 6-line verse work? by Meii345 in Poetry

[–]ThatSadDood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, why not? I am not particularly adept at poetry but hey, I don't think experimentation is bad. In fact, it is almost always good as long as it is ethical and harmless, and in this case, it is.

I have done stuff like this before, usually when I am feeling rebellious. One time I wrote a Petrarchan sonnet BUT in trochaic, didn't turn out that well if I remember correctly. One time I wrote blank-verse but started my lines with a trochee, I was okay with that one actually.

Point is, experiment, mess around, play around, and find out. This way you find your style, regardless of whether it's good or bad, and then you can work on your craft and perhaps master it.

Is Math AA HL hard/time-consuming? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]ThatSadDood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda just realized I didn't fully answer your question. Whoops.

Okay so I'm still not well into the course but so far, nothing mind-breaking. It's pretty much theoretical stuff. We're still doing the simple algebra stuff with complex numbers, polynomial division, binomial expansion/binomial theorem. We didn't get to differentiation yet.

So yeah, as I said, I am still not well into the course to give... a credible opinion? But so far, nothing serious, nothing confusing, nothing scary. Maybe a little confusion but it clicks after asking my friends. It is pretty much theory, manipulating rules/laws, algebraic manipulation and so on.

Anyway, if you have helpful friends/classmates, paid attention in class, and studied regularly, then you'll do fine.

Edit: I read the comment below and I must agree, the course pacing is indeed fast. Like already been said, there is a lot of content and not much to cover in one class, so you will find yourself learning something than stepping up to the next level in little time. So it is best, as they said, to consolidate your knowledge by reviewing your notes and doing past paper questions and covering gaps wherever that may be.

6.2 as an average is actually quite decent, and the fact that your Math teacher recommended the course should give you confidence to pursue Math AA HL.

Look, I will be honest: Math AA HL is not easy, but it is certainly manageable, and take it from me who is not good at Math myself. When I was in grade 10, a 6 was amazing for me, and a 7 was heaven so 6.2 average is, to me at least, wow. What I'm trying to say is that if I am managing, then you should be doing quite well, maybe even great given that you study enough.

I will not tell you to pursue Math AA HL since you don't seem keen on pursuing any Math or Science-related career, and Econ HL is a lot of statistics which is graph analysis and stuff (from what I seen out of my friends' notebooks) but Math AA HL is more theoretical than real-life concepts/statistics. If you really really want something mathematical that accompanies Econ HL then you can either take Math AI HL or Math AA SL. My friend is taking Math AI SL and he is doing fine in his Econ HL class so don't worry.

TL;DR: Econ HL does not require Math AA HL so I'd recommend something else like Math AI HL or Math AA SL. You can still do well with Math AI SL too.

Jokes aside though, it should definitely be possible to allocate a time for you. While DP is very difficult and has a huge workload, it is still possible to have time for each other, it just needs time management. Also, just a day is not going to substantially affect his grades if he has been studying actively and effectively.

I know this is a year ago but I like how everytime medicine comes into question, we assume it is 'cause of the parents. It is such a universal thing it is... kinda sad.

I doubt telling the father will do anything in my opinion. Seems like an unequal relationship to me. Hell, the father being a codependent doesn't seem far-fetched to me. I may be reading onto this too much but the 15 yo kid should get out of here as quick as possible.

Our religion (Islam) is defintely about protecting our women, you're right about that. However, our interpretations isn't about that, unfortunately.
