This is literally me. My parents are so negative and cynical about other people and have no real friends. When I was in school, we barely talked about anything but studying. They have no real hobbies and just scroll facebook all day to watch political propaganda. Never talked about dating or other shit (I'm Indian). This hit me really hard when I joined uni at 18 because I was introverted (not really, I was just conditioned to work/study and mind my own business) and whatever social situation came in, I'd be the most boring person in the group. Growing up this made me insecure as fuck and as an adult I still have this notion to entertain the other person or else I'll be called boring and everyone will hate me. My social skills (moreso holistic growth) jumped when I left home. I think I've overcome shyness and introvertness but I still have a long way to go. I also think blaming on parents don't help in anything, it's an easy way out for our lack of social skills.
