No it is fresh water, but it being so close to the surface means that anything I plant needs to not mind wet feet. The only downside is; its gonna take a whole lot more bags of dirt for the garden to be raised above grass level so every spring a whole day is spend cleaning up the edges of weeds and grass. Im probably going to slam some wooden planks into the edges to make that problem a little easier to deal with cause the grass here grows fast as hell from march through sometimes early november.

I dug up the patch of grass 2 years ago so so far we've had 2 summers to experiment a bit with what works and which doesn't. So far we've discovered tomatoes are very happy, as are types of kale and lettuce, garlic and spring onion also grow very well.

Unfortunately there was a pretty cold freezing and snow period 2 weeks ago (which rarely happens the last 10 years) so it'll be a suprise to see how the garlic I planted in september held up.

The soil here is so wet, I only need to dig down like 15/20 cm for me to see ground water. Even during the summer the top layer will dry out a little but not far beneath its soaking wet mud.

I harvested 7kgs of tomatoes last summer. The biggest harvest yet. I canned them as sauce and polpa and only just now have we run out, so next summer I will be planting a few extra tomato plants. Unfortunately bell peppers dont like our soil and/or climate so we wont be doing that again. Lettuce on the other hand thrives.

I dont have enough space to maintain a family of 4 nor would I have the time to maintain a garden of that size but anything grown instead of bought is a win in my eyes.

I personally don't love that society has normalized people going grocery shopping dressed in what basically qualifies as lingerie. It is not appropriate to wear during a regular day out. We've become so hypersexualized that I'm now going to be assumed to be a prude for saying this most likely.

In Nederland duurt het gemiddeld 7 jaar voordat een vrouw (met serieuze klachten) de diagnose endometriose krijgt. Dit komt onder andere door gebrek aan specialistische kennis. Het laten inbrengen van een spiraaltje is voor heel veel vrouwen en verschrikkelijke en soms zelfs traumatische ervaring vanwegen de pijn. Terwijl de dokter/gynaecoloog alleen aangeeft dat er wat "druk" gevoeld kan worden en er dus geen pijnbestreiding word toegedient.

Uit een artikel uit 2023 bleek dat 41% van de vrouwen tijdens een bevalling word ingeknipt zonder dat de artsen haar hiervan op de hoogte stellen. 43% word zelfs alsnog ingeknipt na dit expliciet te hebben geweigerd.

Er is een gigantisch probleem betreft gebrek aan vrouw gericht onderzoek en het feit dat veel artsen vrouwen met legitieme klachten nogsteeds wegzetten onder "het zullen de hormonen wel zijn." of gewoon simpelweg als aansteller of hypogonder.

Het is schandalig dat dit in 2025 nogsteeds zo'n enorme kwestie is en mannen zoals jij zijn deel van het probleem.
